Seeing Meadville with New EyesPosted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: This place was clean, cheerfully cared for, and comfortable, and cost far less than the best hotel here. Sherry makes a traditional breakfast.
Cons: Ask for her to adjust the heat, if necessary. We stayed over a cold, rainy Easter week and I didn't notice that the heat request could be made!
Location: Nearby are: art and pottery galleries, great food, wineries, breweries, hiking, boating, fishing at state parks, shopping outlets, theaters, and more
During one of my brief visits to Meadville, one of approximately four during the course of the year, I recently stayed in this bed and breakfast home. Our stay at Mayor Lord's House was a homey, comfortable stay with a minimum of fuss. The accomodations were clean, and in good condition. I have no complaints, but travelers bear in mind this home was built in 1920, so it is subject to creaking stairs, and is, of course, being a house, not created for noise deafening. Aware of this, the hostess cheerfully provided ear plugs by the front door! We stayed downstairs, in the Lord room, a spacious, comfortable room with a shared bath (which we never had to share) and were able to park off the street. The owner, Sherry, was helpful, knowledgeable of the history of the house and the town, and made excellent suggestions for activities in the area. The community has changed a great deal in the last twenty years since my residency and is clean and beautified, containing many newly restored Victorian homes, and a renewed arts community. Within walking distance there are plenty of restaraunts, art galleries, a crafts/bakery market, and a truly great used book store. Within driving distance are shopping outlets, Campbell Pottery, two theaters with stage productions, movies, and various local shops. In addition, for outdoors activities there is Cook Forest where day hikes and boating are always an option, or horseback riding is also a choice nearby. Adjacent to Allegheny College

Mayor Lord's HousePosted Feb 22, 2015 on Hotels
We visited Allegheny College on President's Day weekend. Meadville had over 10 inches of snow the morning of our arrival, and by the time we arrived at 6PM, the driveway and walkways were impeccably plowed...so appreciated! The B & B is just a short block away from the center of campus. Sherri, the owner and proprietor couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. Her home is lovely, comfortable and beautifully appointed without being fussy. With temperatures at -9 degrees, the home was remarkably warm and cozy! Breakfast was hearty and healthy, not to mention delicious. The beds were fabulous, with lovely linens and comfy pillows. When we are in Meadville, this will be our go-to place to stay. Well-done, Sherri! We loved our stay with you!

We had a wonderful stay at Mayor Lords! Sherry was extremely helpful and understanding after a mistake on my part with regards to the booking dates. We were offered an upgrade to another room of our choice when we arrived. Overall, very accommodating. Atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Breakfast was good and plenty. Location close to the Allegheny campus and various restaurants. Highly recommend! Great value!

This was my second stay at Mayor Lord's and will plan my stays there for any future visits. Very convenient to the college and "city center". Room was spacious quiet and comfortable. Great breakfast every morning prepared fresh each day. The owner/operator takes great pains to meet and greet all of the guests.

Major Lord's Bed & Breakfast, Meadville, PAPosted Oct 21, 2014 on Hotels
I arrived after sunset and it was hard to find because it was dark and it was my first visit to the area. Once I did find it, I was greeted by the innkeeper, and since I was the first guest to show up, I received an upgrade to a larger room than the room I paid for at no additional cost to me. I was very pleased with my stay and would stay there again, if I am ever in the area in the future.
