Good Location

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Better parking facilities (but there is no room so this is moot).
Location: Downtown Ashland... Live theaters, excellent restaurants, e.g., Liquid Assets wine bar/restaurant, Beasy's, Thai Pepper, Sushi, all within a block.
I've stayed in Ashland dozens of times, but this is my first at the Bard's Inn. The only serious drawback was the limited parking at the older building. We twice had to park on the street after an evening play. This motel apparently occupies two corners on the east side of Main Street and another lot across the street. For those in reasonable shape, the theaters and restaurants of downtown Ashland are all within walking distance, e.g. 1-8 blocks. The hot, continental (is this a contradiction in terms?) breakfast was adequate and served until 11 a.m., which is good for late risers.

A very nice hotel close to the festival. Room was clean and the staff was awesome. We would definitely stay here again.

Disappointing visit.

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Convenience to centre of Ashland.
Cons: Refurbish the older part of the motel, to eliminate unexpected and unwanted six-legged guests?
Found earwigs, ants in the bathroom, and spiders in the bedroom. Spiders as a one off are an occasional acceptable visitor. Earwigs and ants, not so ... Floor above was really creaky, such that when the elderly individual kept getting up during the night, we were aroused from our sleep. Generally disappointing. I write recommend, because previous visits were quite satisfactory, but I felt that I was assigned a substandard room (perhaps because I made the booking through Expedia?)

Cramped older hotel at a busy intersection.

Posted May 25, 2014
Pros: Not much...staff was friendly.
Cons: Air conditioning needs improvement, needs to sound proof rooms, needs to put extended stay customers away from bus load of kids staying for one night.
Location: The location was walking distance to downtown Ashland.
To noisy, TV didn't work properly, cramped accomodations for two people.

Bard Hotel in Ashland

Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: Convenience
Cons: Hot Tub, Parking, earlier availability of rooms.
The Bard Hotel is convenient to everything Ashland, which I appreciate. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are just OK. I was disappointed that some rooms had balconies and some did not. Had I known, I would have requested a balcony. Couldn't check in early which is a little disappointing. Parking is extremely limited, although free. The hot tub is set too hot, and boiled me.

Walking distance to downtown Ashland

Great place to stay but next time will request a upstairs room and away from the stairs. Too noisy with people going up and down the stIrs and the ceiling squeaked when the people walked across the floor above at 5 am!

Location, quality, and price

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: Location, price, powerful Wi-Fi.
Cons: Counter space around the sink is limited. How about some narrow shelves on the walls to the side of the sink to set toiletries.
Location: Walking/hiking, wine tasting, shopping and dining.
This is our third or fourth stay in the last 12 years. Conveniently located within blocks of downtown, it is a great place to stay during the off-season. (Prices get a little spendy when the Shakespeare Festival is in full swing.) Free breakfasts are good and vary day by day. This Best Western has a big plus. Most establishments now include breakfasts in their rates but what sets the Bard's Inn apart from the others is there is no TV hanging on the wall blaring CNN.

Our room was clean and smelled good. The bathroom looked like it was just remodeled. In the morning good hot breakfast and fresh cut fruits.

Generous room in downtown Ashland

Posted Jan 6, 2014
Pros: The parking was convenient and free. The room was enormous. The downtown location was excellent.
Cons: N/A
Location: We were within minutes walking distance to the Southern Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, fine dining, galleries, and unique shopping boutiques
My wife and I live locally and wanted a Winter get-away nearby. We reserved the King suite with the jacuzzi tub. The room was huge. The complimentary breakfast was good. We were within walking distance of most of Ashland's downtown attractions. We had a fantastic time.
