“Affordable and Good”
The motel was quite small and the rooms are cramped, but if you want to stay on the cheap this is a clean, good place. The owners/operators (husband and wife, I think) were very hospitable and helpful. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, and old (SD) cable TV. It was exactly what we needed for a rate we were happy to pay.
“Affordable and Reliable Option in Ashland”
The motel is clean and well equipped - with fridge and bathroom, TV. If you are visiting the OSF you are probably not concerned with motel entertainment - but with a nice place to stay. The business owners were friendly, it was easy to drive to town, and any time I needed something, they were available and helpful. I highly recommend this for folks who are looking for an affordable Ashland option. Not a resort, but it does the job!
“second stay in a month”
I returned after my first stay about a month ago. Everything was basically the same, the room was clean, small, and did not have too much storage space. But for one night it was basically perfect, especially for the price in Ashland.
“Good value”
Hotels in Ashland are quite expensive and this was a reasonable alternative without breaking the bank. The hotel is easy to find as it is close to the freeway but surprisingly not too noisy. The room was clean but small. We really missed the opportunity to store our cloth because there was no closet, just a few drawers. But for our two nights it was sufficient.
“If you are REALLY on a budget”
I do not want to bag on the hotel managers. They are nice, salt-of-the-earth types. But do not stay here unless you are on a seriously tight budget--as I was this particular visit--and have very low expectations. It's pretty much the lowest budget hotel I have stayed in since I was a 20-something backpacking through europe. Last night I stayed at San Francisco's Hotel Nikko, so trust me I know the difference. Rooms are tiny, made of cinder-block. The place is totally shabby. Totally low budget. However...did I mention it was the cheapest place around? Next door is a coffee stand, a Chevron for late night snacks and a charming little diner next door called the Oak Tree with a bar in the back where I basically camped when I wasn't sleeping. My kids mentioned something about how many lonely truckers had seen some romance in the rooms. That kinda place. But cheap!
“Bare bones, but fine on a budget”
This motel is all about the basic necessities with none of the frills. The room was quite small, with masonry walls and no art. It was clean and felt very safe. It was just fine as a crash-pad during a quick theatre outing. We decided we'd rather spend our very limited budget on better seats at the theatre, and a good dinner. We weren't disappointed.
“A box to sleep in”
Ashland can be an expensive town, so if all you need is an place to crash, this is an OK choice, but if I were going again I would pay a little more to stay someplace nicer. The room was clean and quiet (which was surprising since it is right off the freeway), but very small and basic. Very small, as in, a cinder-block box around a bed. It sort of remided me of a jail cell, but I decided to think of it as a college dorm room instead. If you are stopping in Ashland to see a play and will be on the road again early in the morning, this is an OK pit stop. But if you are staying longer, you should probably spring for someplace nicer.
“practical”
Cheapest hotel in Ashland - but not scary or totally run down. The room was small and there was no furniture apart from a bed, desk, and uncomfortable chair. However, the reason I chose this hotel was that I needed to stay in Ashland as cheap as possible and it fit the bill perfectly. I'd do it again.
“for the price, it delivered what you'd expect”
For the price, it's fine although it was the first motel/hotel that I've been in that had no where to hang anything. No closet; no hangar bars. Also, the sign is much more impressive than the facility.
“Below expectations”
After traveling across the country form New York, and staying at least 2 different chain motels we were disappointed at what we found at the Relaxx Inn. For about 25% more than we paid for other rooms we had a room with no hanger space, no ice machine, and less than proficient and less than hospitable management staff. Severe language difficulties impeded our dealings with management. At registration we were given the wrong room by one staffer and asked to move our belongings by another staffer who seemed indifferent to our inconvenience.
