“Clean, but a bit bright.”
Huge, firm bed, everything very clean! The parking lot was VERY well lit, which made me feel that my Christmas presents waiting in the car were very safe. However, the room lacked blackout curtains (there were only regular blinds), so the room was still quite bright. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who needs maximum darkness to sleep, but if not, this was a comfortable, clean, easy in-easy out place to stay.
“Older but well maintained”
The hotel is older but well kept. When we checked in, the room wasn't quite ready (needed 15 more minutes) so we told the clerk we were going to look over the business area and would be back in half an hour. She helpfully asked if we would like her to turn up the AC in the room while we were gone. It was nice to get back to a nice cool room. There was a frig, a microwave, and even books on a book shelf in the room, a nice touch. We had asked about a good place to eat when we checked in, and the clerk recommended Della's, a short walk away. Della's was nice and the meal was good. The next morning we skipped the continental breakfast because we wanted a full breakfast. We ate at the Powderhorn Cafe in town and had an excellent breakfast. Next time we go to Grants Pass, we will make it a point to eat there again.
“Overnight stay is okay, but...”
This motel was a pretty nice place for an overnight stay. I found the retro-Victorian style of the room quite enjoyable. I only had a few issues. First, the front large pane window only had a blind, with no curtain. This caused the room to be filled with ambient light from the security lighting outside the front door, which resulted in me getting a rough night’s sleep. Also, the small air conditioner barely kicked out enough cool air to keep the room at a reasonable temperature. Fortunately it only got to about 90 degrees in Grants Pass that day, so I was comfortable. The bed was nice, but a little on the firm side. Other than these issues, I would recommend this place if you are in need of a one night stay. If you are there longer than that, I would suggest someplace else.
“Okay for a night but not an extended stay.”
This was a nice place to stay for a night although I recommend you bring a dark sheet or blanket to cover the window because the lights outside are very bright (as stated in the other reviews). I was prepared so it wasn't an issue for us. The only thing that bothered me is that I could here the person in the next room going to the bathroom in the middle of the night - pretty thin walls. All in all, not too bad.
