A holiday of contrasts - from the shock of walking through the medina to the luxury of being escorted to the riad and the mini palace that awaited. A shock of culture, the senses and taste buds that took a couple of days to really appreciate. The local tour organised by the hotel was very useful, albeit a bit of a shock. Other tours we organised around the three valleys, balloon and camel adventure and palaces and monuments were wonderful.

A fantastic oasis of calm in the heart of Marrakech. Step in off a dusty street in the Kasbah, and you find yourself in an art deco haven of wonderful rooms, furniture, spaces and relaxation.
Lovely welcome and wonderful service, with huge, comfortable room - ask for the biggest room! Food was great and it was nice to be able to have breakfast wherever we wanted - roof terrace, courtyard, dining room - depending on what we felt like on the day. With only a small number of rooms, you get a really personal service and all the staff make you feel valued and special.
I wouldn't say that it's a place to take children - but that's maybe more out of selfishness to keep it calm, adult and special than the fact they may not like it!
Quentin and his wife, who manage the hotel, could not do more to help and were lovely. They recommended places to see and eat, but also arranged personal tour guides and day trips for us.
I thoroughly recommend the Villa Makassar!

The hotel was impeccable, right from the second you walk through the door, it's first class at every step.
When you're dropped off by the taxi, it is a little confusing, they'll drop you off infront of an alley and say it's down the way. You think that you were just taken for a ride, as you can't see the door from the road so it's a little worrying. When you do find the door, again it's very unassuming, but once you enter, it's incredible! The entire experience was phenomenal, definitely check out the jazz bar at night for a drink, and have some of the mint tea!

When we first arrived in Marrakech we had some trepidation when we walked the alleyways towards the hotel but when we reached there what we saw was beyond our imagination , from the architectural splendour to the courteous staff who could not have done anymore to make our stay more pleasurable . From the staff singing happy birthday to my wife to decorating our room in flowers for her birthday. The hotel was the best place in Marrakech and I highly recommend it .

You'd never know that behind a simple black door there was a wonderful garden, a pool and an outstanding hotel. In the middle of the hurly burly of the medina is an oasis of calm; a perfect antidote to the noise of the town. Hotel itself is superb with very friendly, helpful staff. Food is excellent - albeit too much -and rooms are large and comfortable; a great place for a few days.
