"Nice hotel close to the train station"
Half a mile walking distance from the train station. You will soon discover the "hidden" passages to the train station, this will keep you dry & out of the cold. For smokers, not so great. There's a six foot area on the side of the hotel with no protection from the elements. Concierge better in the day, good luck late at night or early morning for those who are not fluent in Japanese. Breakfast buffet opens at 6:30am, this is a BIG plus, shops/stores don't open till 10:00am (including Starbucks) majority around 11:00. Only other option is room service or you can walk to Lawson's or 7-11 (there's one on every block). The door people & cleaning staff earned 5 stars; friendly, gracious & accomodating (we had many conversations in half Japanese & half English-neither was fluent in the other). As for the buffet restaurant, not so great, got the feeling if you weren't a national, it was get your food, eat and while you ate, you got your bill. It wasn't just me, met a gentleman in the elevator & he felt the same. He told me I was lucky, I got my coffee about 25 minutes after asking 3 people, his took 40. Faculties are beautiful & clean.

Pocket Guide: Tokyo Meguro Starwood Hotels

Meguro is a residential district in southwest Tokyo. The Meguro River gives the district its name, and in May you can find families picnicking under the cherry trees that line its banks. September sees a festival celebrating the local delicacy, a fish called samna. Those with strong constitutions should check out the 8.8 meter tapeworm on display at the Meguro Parasitological Museum.
