Review of Stay in Hotel Cullen - MelbournePosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: The decoration and ambience of the hotel is solid. The staff were very helpful, cheerful and warm. They responded to all my requests/questions well.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.......the hotel and staff exceeded my expectations.
Location: Nicely located in Prahan, accessible to Tram lines and walkable distance to Chapel Street. There is also a direct tram 76 to city.
My family of 4 (including 2 kids of age 11 and 3+) had a wonderful 6 days stay in the hotel. We loved every single bit of the hotel, restaurants, decor and most of all the staff whom made the stay highly enjoyable. It is a high standard boutique hotel.

Convenient to Prahan and transport to MelbournePosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: The room and location
Cons: The Reception staff need to listen, be professional .
Location: Catch the Tram to Melbourne. Good Resturants nearby
We booked 2 rooms via Expedia using an AMEX Platinum credit card. One for my wife and self. One for my daughter. On check in at 3pm the reception wanted photo ID which I provided with booking details. They took a copy of my drivers licence which I thought was unusual and asked why and was told this was the policy of the Cullen The check in experience became a lot worse when the check in staff did not accept my AMEX card at first and then claimed not to have a booking for the second room. Instead of assisting the 2 staff argued. All was settled after a call to AMEX .The card was fine the staff had not swiped it in the correct manner! The second room was not available until 5pm The result was check in took 30mins for the first room and a 2 hour wait for the second

Ultra modern and affordable!Posted Nov 20, 2013
Super comfortable bed, great room, I was on the main street but noise was kept to a minimum, must have re-enforced glass or something. Affordable room service. Would recommend and will return for my next trip to Melbourne

Great hotel and great StaffPosted Sep 26, 2013
Pros: The location is great, the rooms are nice and comfortable.
Location: There is a metro station real close and you can always go shopping on Chapel St. It is in the middle of the gay neighborhood.
From the moment we arrived the hotel staff was great with us, they even allowed us an early check in.

Great service, comfy room and dumplings!Posted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Love all the Arts hotels and would always try to make them my first choice in Melbourne. This was the first time at the Cullen. It's smaller and feels a little more intimate and edgy - influenced maybe by the location. Really helpful service at both check in and in the restaurants. Book early to get a better rate and book ahead to get into the dumpling bar!

Value for moneyPosted Aug 18, 2013
Pros: A very nice Dumpling Bar restaurant as part of the hotel.
Cons: Being woken at 1.30 am for a fire alarm evacuation. it was false but still a bit unnerving.
Location: plenty of shopping and restaurants close by
The Studio room was very spacious and clean with a king size bed. There were modern cooking appliances and plenty of hanging space in wardrobe. A couple of lamps were not functioning but the staff had them repaired/replaced very promptly with no fuss.

Great Location and FacilitiesPosted Aug 17, 2013
Cons: No comment
Super location in Prahran. Less than 10 minute walk to the train station. Tram service available closer than that. Great commercial area nearby, and tons of super restaurants. Staff were very friendly. Room was perfect. Would definitely stay here again.

Thoroughly impressedPosted Aug 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
What a fabulous hotel. Super comfortable and incredibly gorgeous decor. Location is fantastic for transport, dining and shopping. I wouldn't hesitate to go back except to possibly try one of the other Art Series hotels.

Very funky but ignores its environmental policyPosted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: Rooms have great furnishings and the kitchenettes are a very nice touch
Cons: Made big claims about their environmental rating but ignored this in practice
Location: Great location, Chapel St is a great place just to wander
The Cullen is a very funky hotel with great rooms. Am not so keen on the bar area, it isn't an inviting space and as so many hotels do for a hotel that claims to be environmentally friendly and outlines their policies clearly they ignored all their statements about replacing towels and just replaced everything which is always frustrating.

Comfy bedsPosted Aug 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel with its bright & welcoming atmosphere. Very comfy beds and no noise from surrounding rooms & street resulted in restful sleep which from experience is not always the case in many hotels. Would definitely stay there again.
