Comfortable, Clean but nothing extraordinary

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: The best thing about this Hotel is it's location. Walking distance to lots of Restaurants & the beach.
Cons: I wasn't overly impressed with the furnishings nor the point blank "No free breakfast as it's not on our booking sheet even if it says so on your Expe
I booked through Expedia & got a great rate ($180.00) My booking confirmation read that it included Free Parking & Free breakfast, so I was very happy. At check in, the receptionist advised me that Breakfast wasn't included, but parking was. Oh, OK. I was not in the mood to argue the point as it was my Birthday & I was checking out early the next day anyway. The Deluxe room was of average size, probably more so as it had a King sized bed. Both the room & bathroom were clean & the bathroom was also of average size. There was really nothing remarkable about the Hotel, other than one of the bedside tables. Why management would place a broken old piece of furniture such as this in a deluxe room is beyond me. Parking was a case of 'park where you can find a spot' & you needed a room key to access the area, so it was secure. All in all, I found my stay at the Hotel fairly comfortable.

Stuffy!

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Air conditioners that work!
Location: Good
It was a very warm day and the air conditioner didn't seem to be blowing out any cool air. At least there was a window that opened!

Fantastic basic hotel - good value

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: 24 hour reception - fantastic location and position - on site parking - public transport less than 5 minutes away
Cons: For me it was ideal for my purpose - single mature traveller - great value for simple and clean facilities - hard to find any necessary improvements.
Location: Location is in the centre of all you need - shops - bars - public transport - restaurants and beach.
Fantastic basic hotel - good value (especially if you book early). I stayed in well priced 'shoebox' room - small, air-conditioned with a double bed and en-suit facilities - perfect for a single traveller. Hotel staff were very helpful and professional.

Good Hotel, helpful,friendly staff.

Such helpful staff. We arrived at the hotel just after 10.00a.m, expecting to have to wait until mid afternoon before we would be able to have our room. The very helpful reception staff said they would get the housekeeping staff to get a room ready asap. This was much appreciated as we had a very early 6.00a.m. flight from New Zealand. Within the hour our room was ready - we could not have had better service. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Pleasant and accessible

Posted Feb 8, 2015
Pros: Location, facilities, transport, comfort, friendly and helpful staff, onsite laundry for a reasonable cost.
Cons: Restaurant assistance and costs were confusing. See above.
Location: In the heart of St Kilda. Acland Street is bustling with restaurants, cafes, bars and cake shops. The beach is 200 metres away. Luna Park is opposite.
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan for five days to attend a niece's wedding and catch up with friends and relatives. The hotel location was good, with excellent tram transport and good restaurant and shopping facilities nearby. We had one concern about the restaurant. Breakfast was $15 but there was a promo in the lift stating that banana toast and coffee was, from memory, $7. However, when I asked in the restaurant about a cheaper breakfast of toast and coffee, I was told it would still be $15. Finally, the hotel staff and restaurant staff were eager to send us to the Galleon cafe over the street. It was excellent.

Room

Pros: Staff were amazing and very helpful
Location: Lots of things to see and many eating establishments
The room was noisy as we were on main road with trams going and people quite noisy on street
