“The Height of Inconvenience”
I was attending a convention at the nearby convention center, and selected this hotel specifically because it was the location of the convention parties, which is normally also the location of the all-night functions I usually attend. This is usually convenient for me, avoiding late-night walks between buildings. However, this hotel apparently decided to void out the contract they had with the convention and not allow room parties, which (a) decreased my enjoyment of the convention substantially, and (b) moved my late-night functions over to the convention center, where they got cut off at midnight, causing me to spend half my time in the evening traipsing back and forth between buildings instead of enjoying myself, and the few convention parties that were held were in hallways rather than function rooms, with space that was entirely inadequate and presented a serious fire hazard. Additionally, the charges for internet service in the hotel ($27.50 per day) are nothing short of piracy, and they actually had the nerve to knock on the door after I checked in the first day to refill the minibar from the previous occupant - this should have been accomplished before I was assigned to the room, not after. All in all, I wish I'd stayed at the Hilton, which is connected to the convention center and a much shorter walk.
“Happy Suprise”
We were not expecting such a great hotel - we were given a room overlooking the river and were able to see the fireworks from our room. Transport to everything was so easy and it was great to not be right in the shop but yet 5 mins by tram. We ate at the resturant and enjoyed a great meal and also breakfast. staff very friendly
“Nothing fancy”
Better if you can get a room with a view up the river, but it is what it is - a sound, mid-range, unpretentious pub just slightly out of the main part of Melbourne - though this end of town is on the improve - but value for money.
