Charming hotel by the river

Posted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: The service provided the friendly staff The facilities The quality of the room
Cons: More tourist info Better promotion of the Clarendon Grill
Location: Crown Towers is a short walk across the bridge that goes over the Yarra. Polly Woodside & Jeff's Shed are also handy. The station and trams are close.
We arrived at the Crowne Plaza to find major works being carried out on the adjoining building. Any concern this raised was soon alleviated when we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. They were efficient and knowledgeable and patient in answering our many questions. It was a warm day and the corridors and lobby were air conditioned so we made our way to the room in comfort. The room itself had a king size bed and all the expected facilities. We took advantage of the hotel pool which was very clean and had ample fresh towels in the nearby change rooms. There were places to sit and talk and lounges for sun baking. Crown Towers is a short walk across the bridge from the hotel and we took advantage of this convenience. We had dinner and visited the gaming areas. We came back to the room and watched an in room movie called Transcendence' starring Johnny Depp. The later checkout (11am) allowed us to visit the Clarendon Grill Restaurant attached to the hotel. The staff were great, in particular Sebastian who provided efficient, attentive service. As a result of his efforts we finished our stay on a high note before making our way to Southern Cross Station - again a conveniently short walk from the hotel.

Crowne Plaza stay

Posted Feb 16, 2015
When I first walked into the room I must admit I was abit disappointed. Considering the amount of money we paid the room wasn't that fancy and was rather small. The room had build in temp control and not a split system and didn't really make a difference. The best part was the king sized bed and the friendly staff.

Pros: Friendly staff and excellent location
Cons: Rooms are a little dated so improvrmrnts could be made
Location: see above
Visited during the Australian Open, prices were high. Had a comfortable room with an outlook over the River Yarra. Well located within walking distance of the Tennis centre, National Gallery and Cultural Centre. Plenty of restaurants in the Casino, at Southbank and along the South Wharf Promanade

Hotel was being renovated so it was a little difficult to rate. The breakfast downstairs at Clarendon grill was amazing.
