Good location, but nothing else going for it

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Just wanted a hotel in a good location, and on that basis, it works. Problems included: - toilet that wouldn't stop flushing making a noise and wasting water - stains over the carpet - awkward room layout - wardrobe in close to one side of the bed making it awkward to use - view onto a back yard area full of bins - awkward small lifts requiring a key card every time, difficult with luggage - car parking is an additional charge None of these are real deal breakers, and may be acceptable to others, they just made our stay more awkward and meant the hotel didn't quite live up to the promise of a modern, clean, comfortable place that I was hoping for. -

Pros: excellent Location and atmosphere
Cons: no improvements needed but wasnt able to use fire escape to skip the elevator to go downstairs. got stuck in fire stairwell with no way out but the
Location: walk to beach, nice italian restaurants, Sugar Beach was great restaurant, Prince of Wales bar was nice and friendly.
Great hotel one block from beach, great location among restaurants and near Prince of Wales bar, Front desk staff was excellent, genuine, friendly and helpful with computer station. Nice vibe with a beach town feel like old (sixties, seventies) Santa Monica or old (sixties, seventies) Miami. Great value and well maintained!

Heart of St Kilda

Pros: Location, price, modernity, trams out front door, very quiet rooms...
Cons: Young blonde female receptionist should look you in the eye and smile when engaging with you.
Location: Fitzroy St restaurants & bars, St Kilda Pier, Esplanade Hotel, Luna Park, Acland St, trams...
My second stay wit a guest at Hotel Urban and once again very pleased wit the experience. Clean rooms and great value for such a nice boutique hotel in a fabulous location. Off street parking a bonus as is 11am check out!

Hotel Urban (St Kilda, Melbourne) - Heck Yeah!

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Located in one of Melbourne's coolest area codes, Hotel Urban is the ultimate place to stay for a quick get away. A stones throw away from one of the most popular beaches in Australia, and minutes away from the famed Chapel Street, there is no shortage of fun to be had. Completely un-pretentious, interesting and comfortable. This hotel caters to all type of travelers. From the outside its doesn't seem like much, but once you enter those front doors, you will soon find out why people speak so highly about this hotel. Wonderful murals on every floor, beautiful art scattered all over the place, and warm and welcoming staff ... Its is different (in a good way) to almost every hotel you have ever stayed in. Best of all ... Its affordable! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to get a glimpse of why Melbourne is considered one of the best cities in the world.

Decent hotel, great location!

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Great beds, great location in St Kilda nr Luna Park, the Espy, penguins on pier and a trams 16, 96, 112 to city straight outside. Nice cleaning staff.
Cons: The attitude of the bulk of the staff mediocre/poor. The building needs some finishing touches (loose exposed wires on ceiling, creaky slow elevator
Location: St Kilda beach/pier walk to see penguins/water rats, Luna Park, Palais, plenty of pubs/eateries. Some beggars hang round however. Trams o/side to city
A week at this hotel, overall pretty good. Started badly. No wifi access in room 428 (roof renovations; helpful but clueless clerk tried his best but wasted two hours of my time trying to fix instead of just changing my room) and noisy vent; the other stuffy clerk moved me to 216, a big strange (noisy) room next to elevator and cleaning rooms. A third move to 326 was done the next day by the much friendlier Indian clerk with a goatee (the only real good customer service person that I encountered at this hotel; the others largely slack, unfriendly and disinterested). Indian clerk also offered a day free hifi and 12 noon checkout for the inconvenience caused. All of the others could learn from his hospitality skills. All up a decent place though. Comfy beds. Thanks for the stay.

Location location location!

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Modern, hip feel to the establishment, though some of the showers are a bit dated. Can't not mention the lift - artwork experience every time!
Cons: Air conditioning units are a little old and noisy - could be the next item for updating. TV's a little small for their distance from the bed.
Location: Across the road from two trams stops - the city at your doorstep.
Close to the trams to get into the city and the beach (better in summer of course). Handy cafe for breaky in the morning, though heaps of places around to try out and eat. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure that I was happy with my accommodation.
