Close to transport

Posted May 9, 2015
Overall this experience is basic. The rooms are old but functional. The service of the room was minimal and could have been improved. It was cheap accommodation and you get what you pay for.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. Even though our hotel is a budget hotel, we would like our guests to get 5-star service. So I will alert my housekeeping about the service they do for our stay guests.

Better of in a Hostel

Posted May 4, 2015
We could not believe the state of the room and bathroom, which would have been adequate if we were paying for a hostel room in a foreign country. Clearly a converted office block, and clearly no investment has been made in updating the rooms in a very long time. Spend a little more to stay in a real hotel, or save a little and just head straight to a hostel.

Thank you so much for reviewing our hotel. As our new management group just took over this hotel, we have changed a lot of stuff here. However as the former owner did not actually do a good maintainence job in this hotel, so it is very difficult for us to maintain this building. But as our renovation will be replaced in this year and it will definitely make this hotel better and nicer. Please give us a little bit more time to make this happen.

well placed but not IBIS Style standard

Posted Apr 30, 2015
Pros: Personnel and good expresso cafe
Cons: Respect the IBIS Styles standard
Location: Perfect place when you come from the airport and well placed in the city
There is a lack of sincerity in this hotel, proposing the standard IBIS style hotel for some rooms and with the attractive price on the net offering a only one star category (or may be less). This is not corect to give you an image on web pics and founding very poor quality.

As our hotel is a budget hotel, so we do have some rooms for our budget travelers. But as the former owner did not do a good job of this hotel, so our new management group will have a major renovation this year to make the rooms better.

Older hotel needing renovation.

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Female staff member was friendly and helpful. Male staff member not so much. Location was favorable to those needing downtown location.
Cons: Hotel needs renovation to get rid of stairs to lobby area. Also complete redecoration would do much to improve overall appearance.
Location: Good downtown location and good access to public transportation. Restaurants within walking range.
The lobby is up 12 steps, difficult to navigate with luggage. Also off site parking is 1/4 mile away. Carpeting in lobby is stained. Hallways were dark and gloomy, black and white semi gloss paint. Room was small and very spartan. Doorway to bathroom was a sliding door. Room had 2 old fashioned frosted windows, almost completely blocking view of other gray concrete walls of buildings. Bed was comfortable and water pressure in shower was good.

Thank you so much for leaving your comment in our hotel. As our hotel does has a long history, so we do have some rooms for our budget travelers. Our car parking place is actually only 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel. As in the public area, we try our best to maintain the carpet as much as possible. As our renovation is coming soon, please give us some time to make this hotel better and nicer.

Centrally Located

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Centrally located and reasonable price
Cons: The room cleaning services
Location: Within walking distance to Collins Street and the whole of CBD
The hotel is located nearby to tram station and Skybus terminal to and from the airport. Hotel is quite old and nothing much to complain with the reasonable room rates charged. The room are equipped with air con and heater. Too bad the heater in my room has some problem where it would rattle and make a lot of noise every now and then. The room cleaning services is not detail enough where the used cups can be left unattended, scrap of paper uncollected and the toilet seats were not clean.

Well located hotel near Southern Cross station

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Location and cost
Cons: The little touches like bedside lamps would make a huge difference
Location: Walking distance to Southern Cross station for the Skybus for the airport. Lovely restaurants in Little Collins Street. City trams are all free
This hotel is a heritage listed building located very centrally in King Street, between Bourke Street and Little Collins Street. As a heritage building there are restrictions on renovations so what you see is what you get. The facilities are up to modern standards and staff helpful and very pleasant. To have a place to put your head down in and be comfortable it's just fine. If you enjoy lounging around lobbies or in guest lounges then this may not be your choice. It was very reasonably priced and I was upgraded on arrival to a superior suite which was very nice.

Very central, very convenient, very helpful staff.

Posted Mar 12, 2015
Pros: The location was fantastic and the staff were very helpful, they made you feel very welcome and couldn't do enough for you.
Cons: Internet was far too expensive, its 2015 for gods sake, windows need replacing, more money spent on decor/painting (bit of a botch job)
Location: Kings St is great, its so central. Across the bridge is the Crown Complex that is amazing! theres so many lovely places to eat, drink and shop.
Pros - Very central, very convenient, very helpful staff. Cons - DO NOT USE THE INTERNET IN YOUR ROOM! i got charged $260 for a weeks stay!!! There is free internet in the lounge room, but we were staying on the 6th floor and the lounge is on 1st floor, not convenient for work, planning etc. Room was kept clean and tidy good clean towels and linen but was very poorly decorated, flaky paint and rusted out old windows, very old and in need of updating. All in all I would definitely stay here again, the actual room rate was very reasonable and filled all our basic needs with a great location.
