“Nice place, near CBD and cricket stadium”

The hotel was near a tram stop, stadium and also convenient to the CBD. The restaurant/bar has a nice selection of meal items. There is a convenient car hire for return to the airport at a price comparable to taxi, but much more comfortable. Rooms were small by US standard, but had small kitchenettes so you could have coffee or warm up a snack. There was also a refrigerator. Wireless Internet is available for an additional fee. The staff bent over backward to make our stay pleasant.

Unhappy with NO Gym or Pool in premises. First Hotel in Melbourne where they charge for newspapers and then charge MORE than they are being sold elsewhere. Pillows unsuitable for sleeping

the hotel is nice and close to Rod Laver and is walking distance to the city centre.

“Would give it another go after a couple of disapointments”

It was more basic than I hoped for the price. Mini bar disapointing, no biscuits, sm. amt tea and coffee and the rest terribly expensive - $4 for a small Mars Bar!! The wine was pricy at $32 a bottle so we left this well alone! Bathroom only 1 small towel each and shampoo, etc for 1 person. Room service, no napkins given, food average (pizza's were tasteless stodge). Also the hotel deduct $10 from your credit card on check in and don't tell you this (apparently it is reimbursed after 5 days....bad practice I think!) Our spare blanket was in the chest of drawers and smelt musty, not sure when it was last washed, so needless to say we didnt use it. The room itself was clean and comfortable and quiet, and the location perfect for Rod Laver/MCG purposes. I found the reception staff quite unfriendly, when I asked for a earlier cab than what we booked, he didn't act on it, and didn't feedback if he had done this. Needless to say, the taxi didnt come early as we had requested.....not good customer service! So we would stay again, but hope the hotel improve in some areas.

“Fix the air con”

We picked this hotel for the location and were very happy. Upon arrival we were told there was no parking available on site, but we could get 'complimentary' parking on the street! The room was a good size but in need of a serious makeover. The fittings and furniture were quite dated and walls needed painting. No pictures on the wall either. We were told by the staff on reception that we would find all hotel information in our room - there was nothing. Our real problem was the air conditioning which clearly did not work and we spent quite a balmy night in our room. When we told the staff on reception they were not really interested and just asked if there were any other problems. The staff on reception did not seem to have a very good system either. We had to wait quite a while to check in and to check out. We have stayed at other Mantra apartments and this one was not up to the standard that we have come to expect. The best thing about this hotel was its proximity to the MCG...

“Excellent value for money”

The hotel is well located and our room was sunny and comfortable. Room servicing was generally good. Unfortunately there were some issues which should not have arisen; * Dirty surfaces in the bathroom which suggest poor housekeeping supervision. Bathroom (and kitchen) need a refurbish which the hotel advises is programmed. * in room WiFi which was not free was useless. "Business centre" was a single computer with a broken printer (not acceptable) - desk printed some documents although unlikely to oblige during busy times. * Loose powerpoint switch in laundry did not appear to have been fixed after desk advised (power may have been isolated). After giving desk a list of issues most were fixed although there was no feedback sought after the event. Not up to the v. high standard elsewhere in Mantra chain although staff were generally helpful and responsive. We will definitely stay again however management need to pay more attention to detail in housekeeping and keep up with health and safety repairs.

“Not impressed, especially for the price”

For a hefty price, this hotel does not have complimentary breakfast - Even breakfast cost a lot of money. For the same hefty price, there is no complimentary internet facilities. Even after paying for the services, if you want to check in online for your flight and print your boearding passes, NO nownloads are allowed!
