Nice quite hotelPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: Second time I have stayed there and wouldn't hesitate return visit. Quite location but close to everything.
Cons: Was a little worried about traveling up and down the lifts (they were a little shaky)
Location: A short walk to Lygon Street restaurants, old Melbourne jail, QV markets and Melbourne central shopping center. Overall a good experience of Melbourne

ConvenientPosted Oct 14, 2013
Great position and friendly staff. Room was clean with a nice deck. Bathroom was a bit worn with loose tiles on the floor but otherwise a pleasant stay all round.

Good location overlooking Carlton GardensPosted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: The size of the apartment, comfortable beds.
Cons: Attention to detail with the items provided in the kitchen E.g a coffee plunger would be nice, and 4 of everything in the china department.
Location: Very close to Carlton Gardens where the Melbourne museum is, and Melbourne Gaol is around the corner.
We first stayed at the Mantra two years ago and had a positive experience so decided to return for a week's stay. The two bedroom apartments are very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is handy to the circle tram line and a pleasant walk to the CBD, Lygon St and Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

HolidayPosted Sep 14, 2013
Cons: Rooms need freshening up, new paint perhaps and update the older appliances.
Location: Location is good, close by to the major shops, trams etc.
First time staying here, staff were pleasant but the rooms need freshening up. The walls are paper thin and could here rooms either side of us. Other than that it wa okay but don't think that we would stay here again.

Promising start, disappointing stay.Posted Aug 30, 2013
Pros: The concierge people were efficient and polite.
Cons: Many things could be improved; efficiency of service in reception ( as it took two whole days to find my son's jumper that he left on the back of the
Location: Location was good and there were many things to do nearby. Many restaurants and trams, good public transport.
The meet and greet policy of the concierge service was very good, as was the large, chandeliered reception area and leather furniture. We have paid for basic accommodation before, this was two twin beds for my husband and I and child. This room, however, was very small and in dull, shabby decorative order with an old fashioned, cramped bathroom. As it looked straight out on to offices and had no natural sunlight, it made the room even more depressing and unwelcoming. We had booked for three guests in one room and had facilities only for two, that is two towels, cups, glasses; also the kettle was broken, so we had to wait for hours before we had these facilities restored after complaining. The lifts were filthy, and were slow in being cleaned. The breakfast area was unclean but the food was good, the system of having to write out a form every time you sat for breakfast was time consuming and inefficient. Time is of the essence when you are on holiday, especially from the other side of the world as we were. The dining area was extremely bad; very restricted menu, food was cold and had to be sent back. My son's risotto was of very poor quality, more like a soup. The waiter service were all in casual jeans and a variety of cheap tops with no proper table service. This was in total contrast to the grandeur of the surroundings; it was a cheap, poor café in what looked like a grand old fashioned hotel. My son left his jersey in the restaurant, and though we asked where it was,

We felt really at home here. Great location.Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: The location
Cons: Crockery & cooking items were missing in the kitchen, which was important to me as I chose this hotel because of the ability to cook our own meals
Location: Great location for free trams, theatres, China town & food
On the city edge so handy to the free trams but with a lovely park view. The Staff were very welcoming & professional. They had an answer for all my questions on getting around the city. The only negative was the hot buffet breakfast items were all luke warm.
