Good hotel but staff were very mechanical. No pleasantries exchanged. Need to be more professional.

Close to airport and freeway

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Clean and comfortable and quiet.
Location: Airport West Westfield Shopping Centre nearby in car.
Quiet,no air traffic noise. Shuttle bus to airport is great. Location was great for us to access both the CBD and Western Melbourne. Second time we have stayed in a month.

Layover accommodation

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The bed was comfortable and shower was good. Very clean Proximity to airport was the most important factor for us Loved the soaps in the bathroom.
Cons: Soundproofing from corridor. Arrangement for pick-up from airport
Location: n/a
We stayed overnight during a layover in our journey to NZ from Tropical North Queensland. The room was pleasant and comfortable, and the staff were helpful. However we had asked for a 4.30am wake-up call which we didn't get - reception staff said they thought that a phone had been left off the hook. None appeared to be off the hook but evidently the bathroom phones are "tricky". Fortunately we did wake up in time for our overseas flight anyway. We were disturbed around midnight with rowdy guests laughing and talking loudly as they walked along the corridor outside. There appears to be a problem with with sound proofing from the corridor. The lights from the adjacent carpark building were very bright, but the curtains were thick and we were able to block most of it out. Lack of a phone number to arrange a pick-up from the airport on arrival difficult.

Great Bed, Best Breakfast and Good Location!

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Comfortable bed, great buffet breakfast, friendly staff.
Cons: Parking availability and costs. Larger, better positioned showers.
Location: Petrol station, shopping centres close by. Near to Tullamarine airport.
The most important thing for me is to sleep comfortably when I sleep. The Mantra Tullamarine definitely supply a comfortable bed to enable me to have that needed sleep. The breakfast included was excellent, especially the freshly made omelette! The room was on the 8th Floor and the view was of the city in the distance. The shower was squeezed in a corner of the ensuite making it uncomfortable to close the door and not touch the cold tap or wall when getting in. The only major issue I had was with their parking. You could park at the airport parking complex next door for $31 per night plus additional charges every time that you took the car in or out, you could park on the roadside if you could find a parking spot without restrictions for free, or you could park in a Mantra allocated area in the open for $22.00 a night depending on availability. We wanted to use their hotel as a base to do day trips around Melbourne and the parking issue made this difficult. The staff were friendly, the room service was good quality, while being slightly expensive. Their menu could be extended more, however, we definitely did not die from hunger during our stay. Overall this hotel was good quality, especially if you were flying out or in of Melbourne.

OK for a quick weekend visit to Melbourne

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Great location for the purpose of our visit.
Cons: We paid for internet connection that was not successful. Breakfast buffet standard needs improving.
Location: Close to airport which was convenient.
It was perfectly functional and clean. It was not an expensive rate so it was reasonable value for money. The restaurant food was nice in the evening but breakfast was very disappointing, hot food just warm and mediocre standard. Whilst it suited our quick stay for this trip, I would not want to have had a long stay at this particular Mantra.

WORST NIGHTS SLEEP. Awful Bed

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Service was friendly and professional
Cons: The bed was absolutely awful
Location: Definitely not the closest hotel to the airport - but gets the job done
I booked a night at The Mantra before a 9am flight to help alleviate how early I would need to wake the next morning. We had great service checking into the hotel [and even found street parking as to not have to pay for it] - unfortunately, that is the only positive thing I have to say. The room was weirdly lit, we had a horrendous view outside our room [into a parking garage], it was fairly noisy [other doors closing/etc], but WORST OF ALL: the bed was the most uncomfortable "mattress" I've ever been expected to sleep on. Seeing as we booked a King Size bedroom, this is what we expected. Instead we received two twin beds pushed together with absolutely nothing holding them that way. One twin bed was softer than the other and you constantly felt pulled to the crease in the middle of them. It made it entirely impossible for us to sleep comfortably and really actually ruined my last night in Melbourne. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY

Close to airport. Friendly staff.

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Shower was dreadful
Location: Close to airport. Not much else to do that we found
Hotel was clean and convenient to the airport. Airport shuttle was fast and convenient. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable, but a little light on conveniences provided - shampoo only, no conditioner, no hand cream, no pen… minor shortages. Water saving shower head misted the water so badly my hair got wet when I didn't want it to, and my feet stayed cold, as the water was cold by the time it got that far.

Pros: Convenient to airport
Cons: Nothing

Got lifted from airport and slept like a log. Got lifted to airport in morning and off again into the blue yonder. I gave the hotel details to a fellow traveller at airport. Really went like clockwork. Thanks staff
