Convenient hotel, walking distance to most sites

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: The location was superb
Cons: The decor of the rooms was not my style at all. Sheer black curtains with black and magenta on the cushions. The wall hangings were tasteless.
Location: Easy walk to all sites. Convenient trams/trains to the burbs.
Walked or took the tram to all sites across the city. Central location and felt safe in the area. Congenial staff and the room was properly cleaned daily.

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Good location. Staff is very understanding & allow us to check in on our arrival at 8am as e room is available. Been to other hotel before even they have e room we still have to wait till check in time. We don't need to whip up any meals as the lane beside the hotel is available 24 hrs , on e main strret Subway is also open 24 hrs. You never get hungry! Will be back to stay for my next trip.

Good location except for the construction

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location
Chose Punthill Flinders Lane due to excellent location to get around the CBD and near to transport options. The hotel itself was a little difficult to find at first as apparently there is a second Punt Hill hotel located nearby. The location and room met expectations as per advertisement and good value for money compared to other similarly located hotels. We liked that it has a self-contained kitchen however the fridge setting didn't seem to work as all of our refrigerated grocery items were semi or fully frozen and even after adjusting the temperature this didn't seem to help. The rooms, while good in size and have all you need must have paper thin walls as we could hear our neighbours and it was like they were walking around in our room. I understand that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment and wish we had been aware of this prior to booking as it caused major disruption with construction work going from 10pm each night which resulted in very poor sleep from our Fri-Mon stay. Also be aware it is right next to major eating precinct so expect noise each night. Other than this specific disappointment, I'd stay here again if construction was finished.

At check in i was informed scaffolding was being errected overnight.I accpet i paid a discounted rate for the room, however, had i known i would be awake every 30minutes all night from the workmen, i would not have booked at the hotel.I have stayed at manhattan punthill many times without issue.I shall not stay at punthill flinders lane again.

Central to the heart of Melbourne

Posted Jul 26, 2014
Pros: Its central location.
Cons: The lifts are very slow, but that was not a problem.
Location: Lots of cafes, small supermarket. Being central to city and to information centre, and trams, it was easy to get about.
We were really happy with this hotel. Clean, soundproof, all facilities for self catering.

Great hotel in the heart of Melbourne

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Location, atmosphere, comfort, cleanliness, pleasant staff, adult feel.
Cons: Dishes in kitchen a bit limited, elevator button was a bit dodgy.
Location: Excellent restaurants, shopping, museums all in easy walking or tram distance. One-half block from Flinders train station.
Ideal for business or holiday traveller. Apartments spacious and pleasant, with simply but capably equipped kitchens and recently renovated decor. The studios fine and comfortable, the one-bedrooms also, comfortable beds, modern furnishings, good tellies. No view, windows look at the building next door, but skilful use of translucent curtains softens the effect, and the building is very quiet despite being just yards/metres from major streets. I've never heard a sound at night, except brief thumping with the morning garbage collection from an alley below. Excellent eateries just outside the hotel door with great breakfasts and coffee, and you're surrounded by the lively heart of Melbourne's tasteful and intriguing lanes with their boutique stores and myriad restaurants. Quick access to the main open-air pedestrian shopping mall of Bourke Street. Trams (to universities and hospital complex) and train station are half-block away, fabled museums only a few more blocks away, all central Melbourne City in easy walking distance. The staff has always been friendly, quick and efficient. Keep in mind that these are short-term apartments, not a hotel, so after 8 p.m. the front desk isn't staffed, but urgent matters are quickly resolved by the pleasant and efficient main Punthill desk staff available 24-7 on the phone. Have only stayed at the Flinders Lane Punthill but the others, particularly the Little Bourke Street one, are likely as nice for the same price. Highly recommended.
