Not a Ritz, but good value for the pricePosted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: Location, Wi-Fi, parking, price
Location: Chapel Street has all cafes, bars and restaurants
It's easy to give negative review to Redan Apartments and I can see why after having stayed there, but let's be fair. First off, it is by no means a luxury or even a mid-range hotel, but then it doesn't advertise itself as such. However it's not a dorm and is not a hostel/backpackers either - you get your own room with facilities. It just happened that I didn't book a room in advance, and almost everything was sold out - the only rooms left in the entire Melbourne were CBD hotels with exorbitant prices. Redan was the only property in a good neighborhood (St Kilda). I was scared by negative reviews, but decided to go there anyway. The building did have ghetto feel and cigarette smoke smell, but the room was reasonably clean, although very basic. There were normal people like me staying there. Wi-Fi Internet connection was fast, reliable, free and better than those I've experienced in expensive hotels. Off-street parking was secure and complimentary. Bustling nightlife of Chapel Street was just steps away.

disappointingPosted Jul 16, 2013
Cons: The kicked in doors that the owner has tried to bog up, the cigarette burns in the blankets, the burnt iron mark in the carpet. Do I need to say more
Wasn't sure if this was a 'half way house', it sure did not look like somewhere to look forward to staying on your holiday.

Dissappointmnt PlusPosted Jul 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The people hanging around the hotel made me feel uncomfortable. The condition of the room was terrible. Dirty bathrooms, cigarette smelling bed linen, even the insides of the cupboards were dirty. My partner struggled to remove a cup from the bench it was so sticky and grotty. I asked for a non smoking room, to find cigarette burns in the linen and the stench. Will not! Be stay here again.

Enjoy chapel street and the cafes.......NGHT LIFEPosted Apr 8, 2013
Pros: QUIETNESS OF THE LOCATION DESPITE ITS RIGHT NEAR THE BUST CHAPEL STEREET
Cons: NO LIFTS TO THE TOP FLOORS
Location: GOOD LOCATION ................................EASY ACCESS TO THE CAFES,TRAMS,AND THE LIFE LIFE
Looking for a hotel for value ,location and service can be exhausting.Depending on your budget and the reason of your stay gives you a idea where you want to stay.I like this place because its basic, location and affordable for friends and myself who arrived from interstate and just want to hit the town and the cafes just down the road..I will stay with them again

Redan ApartmentsPosted Apr 5, 2013
Pros: The location is pretty. There are plenty of eateries. I liked some of the other shops too.
Cons: The taps on the shower and the bathroom sink were hard to turn on and the water temperature hard to adjust.
Location: the location was nice and green and quiet.
Our stay in Redan apartments was very short. We had a good night because the bed was comfortable. The room was old and the taps in the shower in need of some repair. Otherwise everything was okay. The service that we received from the staff was fine. The hotel is located in quite a nice area and there are plenty of lovely places to eat. Although there was a bit of a walk to catch a tram, the distance wasn't overwhelming. I would stay there again if I needed accommodation in that area.

Close to public transportPosted Mar 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was comfortable. Close to public transport. Shower amenities could have been better. Instead of having a 4 minute shower it wtook a good 20 mins to have a shower as the water trickled out. Other than that the room was comfortable.
