The fitness centre at the Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne has free weights, cardio machine, two cycles, treadmill, stepper, and a rowing machine.
There are walking and jogging tracks along the Yarra River just opposite the Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne. Rowing is also available on the Yarra. Aerobics and other gym classes, as well as squash, are on offer at downtown fitness centres within a few blocks of the hotel. The nearest children's playground is at Southbank across the river (500 metres). There is swimming at the City Baths in Swanston Street (1 km). The nearest sailing is at Albert Park Lake (2 km) or Port Melbourne (3 km). St Kilda (7.5 km) is the nearest beach suburb, and offers parasailing, windsurfing, and sailing. Golf can be enjoyed at the Albert Park Golf Course (2 km) or Yarra Bend in Fairfield, about 15 minutes by taxi. For spectator sports, the hotel is located close to the city's major sporting venues: The Telstra Dome (team sports), the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Rod Laver Arena (tennis). There is ice skating at the Melbourne Music Bowl a short walk from Rod Laver Arena, which also has public tennis courts.

“Not impressed!!!”
There are two sides to this hotel. One is very nice, the other is only about 3stars. Very disappointing. The room was not very nice.
“Fantastic Location!”
The Rendezvous is a great hotel. Staff are very nice (as is everyone in Australia) and the rooms are just fine. Free wi-fi in the lobby - which is very comfy. The location can't be beat! You're steps away from Flinders Street Station and all trains and buses. Public transpo is super easy, especially with the free City Circle Tram and free hop on/off tourist bus offered. Melbourne is also very easily walkable. I'd definitely stay here again!

“Right in the Heart of Action”
Hotel check-in and check-out was speedy and the staff was very helpful with our needs. The hotel is close to transport lines (rail, bus & metro lines) and the free city tram is a block away to get an overview of the area. There are fantastic eateries from expensive to cheap take away places.
“Great location - not so great service”
The rooms are not sound proof so we were woken throughout the night with hallway conversations. Our toilet was leaking so we advised staff every day of our 3 night stay & it was not fixed, nor were we offered to change rooms. We used our bath towels to soak it up & had to ask for new ones (which they brought at 3am!!) Room service did not replace our soap. Another room had left breakfast in the hall & it sat there until I advised staff later that evening about the smell. Luckily we spent most of our stay out & about. The hotel was in a great location!
“A reasonable place to stay in Melbourne”
Good location - close to the Flinders St. railway staton, the trams, and a walkable distance from Melbourne's central business district. Free wireless in lobby. However, one day the bed was made up very badly, with the sheet not covering a good two feet of the matress, which was unpleasant. There was a daily problem with not enough towels or soap. Breakfast buffet was over-priced. Otherwise we had a fine stay.
“excellent location”
We were very satisfied but there were a few minor hassles. Communication about what package we booked was lacking as was internal communication within the hotel about this. They have a so called "Happy hour" but charge top shelf prices for everything except a very few selected drinks. It is very conveniently located to the city centre, Fed Square, Casino and restaurants and within a (long but leasurely) walk to the footy at Docklands stadium. Retrieving the car from valet parking is a more difficult process than it should be. All in all though a very good quality hotel and high quality breakfast but beware when booking on Expedia as it more often than not quotes in US dollars which means a much higher Aus dollar price if you don't realise this before accepting the booking.
“A good choice in Melbourne”
My only complaint about Hotel Rendez Vous is that they take in large groups so that when I arrived I had to wait until a group cleared out to check-in. Otherwise, my room was well appointed, clean, perfectly good. The hotel is well located in the downtown area near the river, both major museums are in walking distance. The particular block that the hotel is on looks a little iffy to my NYC eyes but it was fine, there are other hotels that are on slightly nicer looking streets.
“Wonderful Hotel”
We were in Melbourne to attend the Australian Open tennis matches. We stayed at the Rendevous Hotel in Melbourne and it was wonderful! The hotel itself was well maintained and the staff very friendly. Our suite was really quite beautiful and very spacious. The location of the hotel could not have been better. The Rendevous is located directly on Flinders street giving us easy access to the tram which took us to Melbourne Park. The Rendevous is also within easy walking distance of restaurants and shopping. This was our first trip to the Open and we plan to go back and we must stay at the Rendevous.
