Fancy hotel close to CBD on St Kilda Rd

Posted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: Location on St Kilda Rd. Boutique. Great ambience and superior staff and service
Location: On St Kilda Road, so easy access to Botanical Gardens and surrounding cafes and bars and access to CBD, Southbank.
I have stayed a few times at Royce. The environment, ambience and staff are great at this boutique 5 Star hotel with service and standards levels you expect in Asian Hotel that is very much higher than Australian hotel standards. I will continue to use this Hotel.

Convenient and comfortable

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: It's comfort and convenience
Location: You can walk into the CBD, or if you are not up for a 20 min walk, you can hop on a tram - the stop is virtually at the doorstep!
We have stayed at The Royce many times. The rooms we have stayed in vary from beautiful to good. This particular room was just 'good'. No bath and no robes this time (?). Also the shower/toilet lights did not work and there needs to be a little more attention given to the cleaning of the shower tiles (which are also showing signs of cracking). Other than that, comfy bed (as always), great staff (who actually remembered me - which was lovely), excellent breakfast and great room rate for a Saturday night!

Great place to stay in Melbourne

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, clean luxurious feel to the room and balcony with city views.
Cons: Hot water in shower changed temperature but not really a problem.
Location: Chapel Street Shopping. Walking distance to Casino, DFO and quick tram trip to city.
Great location on St Kilda Road. 10 minutes by tram to the city, walking distance to Shrine of Remembrance and close to Chapel street shopping. Hotel facilities were excellent - comfortable bed, large wall-mounted TV and mirrors galore that made the room feel large. Would definitely stay again as better priced than CBD hotels.

New fave place in Melbourne

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The staff in the Amberoom evening were personable, efficient, made great Cosmos and an asset to the hotel. Front desk staff all fabulous, helpful,
Cons: The hotel really shouldn't say it has a gym. There are three cardio machines and a couple of free-weights. They need to improve / upgrade facilities.
Location: Enjoyed being on fringes of the city and close to the Botanical Gardens for a run and walk. Also close to restaurants of Albert Park. Can walk 2 NGV
I had a wonderful weekend here only leaving for dinner, theatre and a run around The Tan. The rooms were so fabulous that I'd stay there again. Really enjoyed the luxury of watching TV in the bath. The only downside was the lack of gym equipment and a staffer at Dish restaurant begrudgingly allowing us to enter for coffee after the theatre on Saturday night at 11pm as the Amberooom was already shut. His talking down to us was offensive and left both my friend and I upset.

Great hotel in a great location in Melbourne

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Was great to be able to check in to a lovely hotel, and leave the world behind. Had a drink in the bar, dinned at the restaurant, both very nice and had breakfast. Was exactly what we were after.

Excellent!

This is a beautiful hotel. I enjoyed every aspect of this hotel. I had drinks and lunch in the bar and dinner in the restaurant, the food was amazing! The staff are fantastic. The room size was big enough and I spent a lot of time in the room working on my computer. The beds are super comfortable and even though there wasn't a great view from the room I had the blind down and the windows are beautifully dressed. There was a wedding on the Saturday night, I heard some noise only a couple of times but nothing disturbing and I was only one floor up. I would have to say a very quiet hotel. Very private and romantic.

Great but not quite 5 star

Posted Jun 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel staff were polite. The room was an ok size. The bathroom was spacious, particularly the shower. I would have expected more toilettries in the bathroom for a 5 star hotel. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was well prepared but we would have expected a larger selection. For example they only served scrambled eggs, you did not have the choice of boiled, fried, poached eggs. Our room had a balcony which was small and not very inviting.
