“great location to melb CBD and surrounding”

Excellent locaton, excellent front of house staff. the most comfortable bed and pillows. easy to find and orientate yourself, close to everything and public transport is only minutes away

“Fantastic”

Definitely worth the money. Our room had a beautiful view of Parliament and a large, black Cathedral behind Spring Street. The entire wall was a window. Bathroom was a little small, but who really cares - we certainly didn't. Bed was great, TV was great, room was extremely clean and very comfortable. Five star. Just around the corner from the Princess Theatre, too! (Perfect, as we just saw Jersey Boys).

“Will stay again”

Hotel was everything I expected, very pleased with the room. Good value and located within walking distance Bourke St Mall and right around the corner from China town. Restaurant was very good. We were on level 16 noticed some of the other floors looked a bit more dated than ours

Stayed at Rydges Melbourne Hotel for 1 night while in town for the Fleetwood Mac concert on 1 December. Booked an Executive King Room on the 20th floor. Room was a very decent size. The king size bed was great and very comfortable with a pillow top mattress. LCD TV screen extended out from the wall and could be swivelled to suit. Good selection of TV channels including all the Fox Sports stations. Heated roof top pool was great for a pre-breakfast dip. Reception desk staff were friendly and helpful and provided a good restaurant tip and directions for exploring the city. Hotel is in a good location and within walking distance (15 minutes) to Rod Laver Arena and the MCG. Only negative was the bathroom which was quite cramped and in need of an update. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

“In the heart of the city!”

Nice place.....right in the CBD so close to trams etc. City maps available from reception and you can check your account on the room TV (do this - we were initially overcharged, but it was quickly corrected). Friendly staff and handy bar downstairs!

“Not impressed”

While the room and common areas are well maintained, the elevator and aisles were in a deplorable state. I would go back, but only for a short stay where sleeping comfort was my priority.

“Rydges Melbourne - Great Location!”

My friend and I went to Melbourne for the New Year's Eve long weekend. We had a great time and the hotel was in a perfect location with clean rooms, very comfortable beds, excellent air-conditioning (Melbourne had a heatwave when we were there with temps in the mid 30s-40s) with friendly staff and it was value for money. It's not as fancy as other places in Melbourne e.g Crown Towers etc but in terms of everything else it was great and was in a better location. It's easy walking distance to Bourke St Mall, Chinatown, Lygon St, the Greek Precinct, Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, Federation Square and Rod Laver Arena/MCG area. The trams are also close by and make it very easy to get around town. It's also close enough to the main part of town (it's 2 blocks from Swanston St) but also far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle so it's quieter. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

“It's a great hotel but be patient for a clean room”

Overall my stay at Rydges was great. The only annoying thing was the fact that after returning to my room at 6pm for 3 of the 5 nights the rooms were still unmade. While the staff that did up the rooms were fabulous it was easy to note that they were over worked and under-staffed. As a paying guest that arrives after a day out and needs a short time to rest up before going out to return back to your room and see that the beds were not made is annoying as you knew that a staff member would be knocking on your door any minute. Also, I was not impressed by the size of the single beds. They were the size of kids single beds rather than an adult single. It was uncomfortable as you slept in fear of falling out of bed!!
