Nice old place

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Great old place. Comfy rooms, nice bathroom. 30second walk to Hawksburn train station, and three stops to the city. Shops, pub, cafes round the corner and about a 10 min walk to Chapel st. Only downfalls..no laundry,no bar or restaraunt(there is a vending machine in the lobby), ordinary tv channels. Wood floors are pretty loud and walls a bit thin. Overall a nice place to stay.

Quaint hotel, conveniently located

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: It had parking available and free wifi in rooms
Cons: Get sturdier beds
Location: Short drive to CBD and walking distance to cafes, shopping and dining.
Quaint hotel that is conveniently located. Within walking distance of cafes, shopping and dining. The staff was very pleasant and the room was nice and clean. However, bed was old and squeaky and the walls are thin so that noise from next door could be heard.

Basic but comfortable and clean

Posted May 19, 2015
If you are looking for a basic and clean accommodation close to Toorak and South Yarra this place is worth a try. If you are expecting the Hilton, you will be disappointed, however if you want your own space close to the CBD, this is a good place to put your bags down.

Nice location - disappointing standard

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: Location is the main winner for this hotel
Cons: The general appearance of the room.
Location: Chapel Street, Toorak Village and Como house
Room was a lot smaller than I though it would be. Also some of the fittings were loose and needed repairing. The bed was in need of some repairs - the frame needed tightening as the slightest movement would result in the bed squeaking. Also the room could of done with a good clean.

Quiet, Central, conveniently located and quaint.

Very quiet. Close to station. Good deals. Only gave us 5 breakfasts for a 6 night stay!?! Free Wi-fi and parking. Old school charm.

Good value, lovely old furniture.

Posted Apr 3, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: Good value, charming old furnishings, free parking.
Cons: New mattress.
Location: Railway station, tram stop and shops & restaurants all easy walking distance.
Charming old mansion beside a railway line but less noisy than expected because the trains are in a deep cutting below hotel level. Our room was pleasant, with a brass bedstead. The bed was okay, but could do with a better mattress. Free parking was good, and location conveniently close to train, tram and shopping strip.

Okay

Posted Mar 26, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel was okay, staff were really friendly! Not sure if breakky was included, they didn't tell us much. The room is nice, but the floors smelt like rotten feet and I had to wear shoes all the time because the floors were greasy! They didn't know how to make beds, the beds squeak and you can hear conversations in the next room. There were old bread crumbs and lollies in the corners and cobwebs everywhere, hair in the showers! Hadn't been cleaned... Ever. BUT I wasn't too fussed. Wouldn't stay here again but it wasn't THAT bad.... If you NEED to stay here do, but you can find better.

Old Toorak Manor

Posted Mar 20, 2015 on Hotels
We loved that it was so easy to get from the city to the Hawskburn station and that Toorak Manor was a minute walk away! Staff were attentive and helpful with bags on arrival, but that is where the compliments stop! The room was so dusty, it was like we were the first customers in years. It offers very basic amenities and a quirky style of decor.I like that there is a rich history attached to the place but feel a lot of maintenance and TLC is needed to bring it back to life!
