Central To River Walk, Beale St, Main St, CRM MLK

Posted Jul 28, 2014
The hotel is very staff friendly, clean, restaurant inside the hotel with many surrounding. The rooms are spacey and very modern. The only negative thing I could see was the drink machine didn't keep drinks cold no matter which drink you got (lol).. All in all I will most definitely be back to stay here, money well spent.

Nice hotel next to the Memphis Redbirds stadium

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Close to all the dowtown locations
Cons: Keep open the pool longer in the summer months
Location: Memphis Redbirds baseball, Beale street and close to the Riverfront
Nice location. TGIF Friday's is a fun bar for a chain. The swimming pool is very small. The price of the Hotel is a little expensive.

Most $$$ hotel we stayed at & most disappointing

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Not much really, even the location didn't make a difference to what we were interested in seeing. We drove both days.
Cons: Periodically clean the air conditioning vent. It was really dirty. Adding a nightlight and a grab bar.
My mother and I were on a road trip through the South. We stayed at a variety of hotels and unfortunately the DoubleTree was the most disappointing. Some hotels we stayed at for less than half the price had better amenities. The first room we were given hadn't been clean yet. Seemed like quite a party had occurred. The lamp next to the bed had a dim bulb which was replaced by the staff but the gentleman said all the rooms had this type of watt bulb. Why would a "reading" lamp have a dim bulb? As an older person, my mother prefers a grab bar in the shower and a night light so to navigate in the room at night. This room had neither. I used the Exercise room twice. The first day, the treadmill computer wasn't working correctly and it needed specific plug headphones. Mine weren't compatible. The next day, I asked for the specific headphones needed for the treadmill at the front desk. They didn't have any available. The Valet brought the wrong car the first time. Keep your warm cookies. I really just want things to be clean and work.

Nice hotel close to main attractions

Posted Jul 8, 2014
The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. We loved the warm cookies on arrival. Very walk-able access to all the local high lights. The ball field is across the street from the hotel and the kids got to watch the fireworks from the hotel window. The restaurants near by were lacking in service and cleanliness including the TGI Fridays that was in the hotel. Very long wait time for TGI Friday and the restaurant was half empty.

The suite was not at all as described by DoubleTree agent on the phone (pull out couch? nope. Wonderful when there is a reservation for four. Kitchenette? nope. Glad we brought food with us so it could spoil.). Dirty room service dishes from previous vacationers greeted us at the hotel room door and then remained there for two more days. Our suite was incredibly noisy, even on the 7th floor. If it wasn't the people on the street, it was the motorcycles or even the A/C unit as it kicked on and off. Curtains in the bedroom cannot be drawn and you must rely on wooden slatted blinds, which isn't really effective as the windows face the east and the bed directly faces the blinds - you are blinded and awoken by 6am. When housekeeping finally came by at 3 in the afternoon, we had already gone and come back and were preparing to nap. Although we asked to have service later, service was never provided. For a few more dollars, you can be closer to Beale, with a free breakfast, a balcony, and a kitchen. I'll know better next time.

Great hotel in downtown Memphis

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Courtesy and assistance provided by staff.
Location: Beale street, Autozone baseball park, riverboat tours and watching the ducks at the Peabody are all very close by.
First time trip to Memphis. Doubletree was great place to stay. Accessible to many downtown locations including Beale Street, the Peabody, Autozone Baseball park, and the riverboats. Staff was very friendly and helpful. First time staying at a Doubletree and based on this experience, will stay at one again and definitely will stay again at this location when I return to Memphis.

Weekend trip!

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: LOCATION!
Cons: The rooms could use a coat of fresh paint and some fresh ceiling tiles in the bathroom. The A/C was very noisy! Our mattress had also seen better days
Location: Autozone park was just across the street.. with in walking distance from all of the hot spots around town!
Had a great weekend get away with the husband. We almost always stay at the DoubleTree because of the location. It is a bit dated and could use some brushing up. The staff is always friendly and helpful here. All of the valve stem caps were missing from my Husband's Challenger when we left but it was down pouring rain, so we didnt even bother to mess with it.

Convenient Stay

Posted Jun 23, 2014
The hotel was in a great spot to be close to all the action in downtown Memphis. Only a walk down the street and you're there. Very convenient for those not wanting to drive. You have to be sure to go later in the afternoon if you want to go to the pool cause they don't have towels in the morning. We went and there was none around. But overall the hotel is clean, spacious, and very well maintained.
