Close to everything

Pros: BIG room. Nice staff.
Cons: Safe in the room. Better bar/meal and breakfast facilities. The hotel currently utilises the adjacent TGI Fridays.
Location: Very good location. However, be careful at night East of the hotel
When we arrived, our room was not available - despite the fact we had booked and paid for it via Expedia. To their credit, the reception staff (who were always happy and polite) put us up at the superior Peabody next door for a night and gave us free breakfast. When we finally got our room it was up on the top floor and it seemed very quite at night - even a bit creepy! There is no safe n the room, which is inconvenient but there are safety deposit boxes at reception. The location is fine, as long as you are aware this is Memphis! Beale Street is 5 minutes walk, Sun Studio 10 minutes and the Civil Rights Museum (MLK) is also very close. As an alternative to Beale Street, which gets seedier the later it gets, try Main Street. The river is only 10-15 mins walk.

Nice hotel close to Beale St.

The hotel is in a great location. There is a piano player in the lobby in the evenings that is excellent. It's within walking distance of Beale Street and many popular restaurants.

Friendly staff. The Bell Boy staff were great at organising transport. Front desk staff were efficient and friendly.

Hotel Upkeep

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: The staff was very friendly & remembered our names. The staff was very accommodating in moving us-as requested-to a room with to window to view firewor
Cons: Hotel common areas could use better maintenance.
Location: Very centrally located to all attractions.
The hotel upkeep was not what I have seen from other Doubletree hotels: the elevator glass window were filthy; the door frames into room showed rust at the bottom; the carpet base had dust accumulation on top edge; the flooring in elevators was peeling off; the trim inside elevator was rusted and discolored.

Nice hotel. Close to all the action.

Hotel and staff was nice. The room could use some updating. The bathroom was really small and dark. Not enough lighting. The room was also small.

Did not care for the Fridays restaurant and bar. Would have preferred a nice lounge.

Downtown Memphis

Posted Jun 22, 2015
The lobby was very nice. The rooms were clean but very outdated and old. They need to renovate the rooms, and add new refreshing carpet and blinds, which we could not open. My husband would not stay there. I was not happy with the TGIF restaurant. The plates were dirty and I don't like that they used magnalite pots that were placed on hot plates to keep the breakfast warm. The staff was very nice, courteous and their smile was genuine. As a Hilton Honors Member and vacation Club owner I really expected a more updated refreshing look and feel to my room. For the first time I was disappointed. It just really needs updating. I won't stay there again and I will not eat at TGIF. The convenience of being in the heart of downtown Memphis within walking distance of everything was a plus.
