“A Great place to stay in Memphis”

Great hotel. Our kids love the ducks. Always have to stay there when traveling through Memphis. I think their manager's early dinner/snack option seems to have reduced in quality. Seem to remember nachos, etc. at one time...now pretty much just goldfish crackers and carrots. Oh well....everything else was great.

“Typical Embassy Suites”

This hotel was fine. If you have stayed at an Embassy Suites before, you'll know what to expect. The hotel is convenient to the highway, about a 20 - 25 minute trip to Beale Street in Memphis.

Area recommendations

I recommend taking the "Memphis Mojo Tour" from Backbeat Tours. It is fun and informative, and takes about 90 minutes. It also takes you by some sites (Sun Studios, the Stax museum) that you'll want to visit later. Add a good BBQ meal, a visit to Graceland, and a night time stop on Beale Street, and you'll have a pretty good Memphis visit.

When to go

I recommend going in April or May, before the weather gets too hot.

“Almost ruined it for me!”

Very comfortable room. Very good made to order breakfast. Friendly cook. Bad housekeeping experience. I was reading in the living area in quiet when she arrived. She came in talking loudly, asked and then turned the television on very loudly where she wasn't cleaning. When I got up to ask her to use the tele where she was cleaning I caught her opening the drawers where my personal belongings were stored. She immediately closed them. Lackluster front desk staff, including the night auditor. Embassy suites is my preference for hotel for leisure. The housekeeper nearly ruined an otherwise good experience with this hotel chain.

Area recommendations

I don't know the city well enough. The area of the hotel was far from downtown.

“Rooms need to be renovated”

This Embassy Suites has simply aged to the point that management must go forward with major renovations to the rooms. Still a convenient location if you do not want to stay in downtown Memphis. But unless renovations are made...you will be better off staying at a cheaper but newer motel in the area.

“3 Day Trip to Memphis”

This was a good location for a three night stay in Memphis to see the sights. Very nice / quiet hotel with a nice hot breakfast buffet and friendly staff. A Target store and several restaurants nearby. Located on the fringe of a very nice neighborhood and office complexes. A very safe location. Were able to easily get to downtown to visit Beale Street, casinos in Mississippi, Graceland and several other fun sights.

Dining

Ate dinner first night in town at Sharky's on Poplar near our hotel. Reasonably priced menu with very good seafood choices and great sushi. Also, love the Iced Tea in Memphis (Community Tea from Louisiana - unfortunately not sold in stores but available on the Internet). Also liked BBQ at Central BBQ on Central Avenue.

Nightlife

Enjoed Beale Street and the Harrah's Casino in Mississippi - about 35 minutes from our hotel.

“Absolutely Amazing”

Loved it! The rooms were awesome and clean. The bed was so comfy. I've only ever stayed in one other hotel in Kansas City, but it wasn't that great. The Embassy was amazing. The staff was nice and helpful. Highly recommended. Had a great time.

“It was alright”

We had a beautiful room. However, the bathroom was not very clean. We found hair in the bathtub and on the floor. The pool was over chlorinated and there were no towels to dry off with.
