“my review”

Stayed two nights to visit family in the area. Front desk person when I checked in was nice, but suggested I call the hotel directly the next time. I said I tried that, but the person on the phone said I would get better rates thru the online booking; go figure. This hotel was one of the ones with the access to the rooms from the inside of the hotel. This seems to make a different with Super 8's, so it was better then I was expecting. Older TV, a hard mattress, thin well used bath towels, and the old stype a/c unit all make comfort creep down to a 3, but overall, for the price, I was satisfied with the stay. The hotel was located next to 2 factory buildings. So no good view, and being outside there was a consistent thumping coming from one of them. But in the room with the a/c running, I did not hear anything, so slept pretty well. Overall, for a budget hotel, I would recommend it.

“Good Value”

My husband and I were passing through Memphis and I found this place online 30 minutes before we checked in. We payed under $60 for our room and for the price it was a great value. Very clean and nice looking inside and our room was the same. Would stay here again or recommend to someone on a budget. Location was good because I felt safe and there were lots of restaurants in a two mile radius so it took no time to get there once we hopped on the highway.

“Thewedding”

We went to the counter. A friendly Indian man toke my papers and started to process the info on our two queen size beds in a no smoking room. He gave me door cards for a room. I went to the room to see what it looked like as my people brought in luggage. Don't worry about bell boys, there were none. My wife has breathing problems and that is the biggest reason to ask for a no smoking room. When I open the door, I was greeted my stall cigarette smoke. I walked in and one of the first thing I saw was a clean ask tray. I went back down to the counter and told the man the room he gave me was a smoking room. He said it was a no smoking room and showed me the description of the room. I told him somebody has been smoking in the room and left their ask tray. He was kind enough to give me another room. We went to the other room and the door was open and both beds were messed up. We called down to the counter, he sent a lady up and changed all the sheets and made up the beds. After that it was cool and quit. The old beds really sleep good. All-in-all, I guess it was all right. When I went to check out, I could not get anyone to the counter, so we just left.

“The worst hotel ever!”

The Southhaven Super 8 was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! There was no elevator and the hotel smelled. There were stains on the chairs, towels and bedding. Worst hotel experience I have ever had!

“Super 8 Southaven, MS”

Room had empty wrappers on the desk when I first signed in. I scheduled a stay for two nights but my room key was only setup for one night. My room was not cleaned at all on the second day. The day time Front Desk girl was friendly and helpful.

“Satisfied Customer”

I was satisfied with the room, although, it was a little cold and needed warming a little in which we ended up turning on the heat a bit. One thing I can say, the heat difinitely works. We had to turn it off for a while after getting back to the room. When I'm by myself, I normally stay at a relative's house but I wasn't by myself this time. Overall, it was a good stay over and the price was excellent.

Area recommendations

Southaven, beause it seems like a quite neighborhood and the people are friendly.

When to go

The best time to go is during the summer time.

Must see

Every year they have Memphis in May downtown on Beale Street. It' set up something like the VP Fair here in St. Louis.

Shopping

They have several shopping Malls like we do here in St. Louis. Can't remember where they are though. On Goodman Road right off I-55 south highway, They have a lot of shopping areas along that street and also a shopping mall.

Nightlife

The area for nightlife is Beale Street if you like Rythm & Blues. They also have a few night clubs.

“Not Impressed!”

Family of 4 traveling for holiday. Needed a place to rest after driving 7 hours. Receptionist was not friendly. Room was dirty and dark! No outlet to plug in lamps! Towels were not fresh. Not a good experience at all! We not stay again nor recommend.

Area recommendations

Would recommend Horn Lake. It's a better location because it's newer, and accessible to everything!

“Better hotel next door”

We booked this room as a place to rest on our way to St. Louis. We did not book it in advance for our return trip, for which we are thankful. It was not a bad hotel, but it wasn't all that good either. The a/c did not work in our room, which wasn't a big deal because it was cold outside. But overall we were not impressed with this hotel. On the return trip, we decided to try our luck at the Quality Inn next door. Same price, far superior hotel. Everything was better here than at the Super 8 . . . room, staff, breakfast. The next time we are in the Memphis area, we will definitely be booking at the Quality Inn in Southaven.
