The location was good. The staff was not friendly, and the room accommodations were average at best.

Clean rooms, nice furnishings.

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Upscale furnishings and good air conditioning in the rooms.
Cons: Lobby and elevators were air controlled, very warm. Ice machine was always out of ice. Need one on each floor to accommodate guest.
Location: Germantown is a safe community with a lot of places to eat and shop. Not far from Beale Street.
Hotel was easy to find. The rooms are large with nice furnishing. Bedding was fresh and room air conditioners worked great. Clean bathrooms.

Hotel Wingate Memphis

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Close to the freeway.
Cons: More pleasant/helpful staff.
Arrived late got checked in fast. Upon arriving at the room it smelled as if someone had been smoking in the room at some point in time. Wanted to go back and ask for another room but my son convinced me to let it go since the room itself seemed nice in spite of the smell. After about 15 minutes we got used to the smell and stayed. Breakfast was okay, which was 6:30 to 9:30 am. We arrived about 9:00 am and there wasn't any syrup for waffles. The person prior to me as well as myself went to the front desk to ask where there might be some syrup. I was told to go ask some lady down the hallway to see where some might be. The person before me must have been told the same thing as she went down the hall came back and was searching through all the cupboards looking inside boxes until she found some. I would think the staff would know better where it should be located and come out to find some for the paying guest. I don't expect to do the staffs job when you are paying for a room. Next door to the hotel parking lot right outside the lobby there was construction going on, don't believe it was related to the hotel but a lot of dirt and heavy machines moving around. Also, there were bad scratches on the right rear bumper not sure how that happened, pretty evident though and they were not there the previous morning. Might have been caused by some other guest loading up their car, don't know, but the fact that it happened does not make me happy.

Wingate a winner

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Almost everything. The staff, the room, TV and breakfasts were better than what I expected for the affordable price.
Cons: The couch in our room could have been more comfortable. My back sometime hurts and I would have liked a more comfortable place to sit.
Location: Just outside of Memphis at an affordable price. Memphis Tennessee, has so much to do I cannot fit much in here. Don't miss Beal (sp?) Street.
I've had mixed experience with Wyndham budget brands. But this hotel was an excellent value. I was a little worried when the first room we were given smelled like some one had been smoking, but when I reported this I was a mmediately and cheerfully relocated to a room that was all I could have hoped for. I liked the channel selection on the TV, the complimentary breakfast was very near the best I've ever enjoyed, and I enjoyed the waffles more than any I have had on the road. The staff was excellent.

Safe and clean, but better choices in the area

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: It was safe and my room was clean. Staff was friendly. Great location.
Cons: Maintenance quality
Location: There is a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby. Wolfchase Galleria, and tons of other stores. The Lenny's Sub Shop I eat at was very close.
The regular hotel I stay at in this area was not available, so I needed an alternative. The staff was very helpful and friendly. A co-worker of mine stayed here and knew it was safe for me to stay, so I booked it. They said that they would prefer another hotel, though. As I didn't have a lot of time to look around, I just booked it. It was acceptable and I felt safe. I think the biggest thing here is that while the decor looks modern on the surface, the underlying maintenance and attention to detail is lacking. Let me try to explain... I walked on the 3rd floor from the elevator to the end of the hall to my room. During the walk, I noticed I was "sinking" into the carpet in certain spots. It was almost as though there was no carpet pad in spots. Then in the elevator there was a metal vent cover that was bent half off. Someone that wasn't paying attention could snag their pant leg or lightly cut their leg. The caulking around the tub looks like something a kid could have done without much instruction. This probably sounds petty, but this hotel has such potential to be a great place.

Okay hotel. Rooms were decent. Shower was broken

It's a 30 min car ride to Bealle Street. Not the short walk The breakfast was awful. There was a bus group there and they were very rude - took all seats in breakfast area, waffle Iron, and all other food. We had to go out on our own for breakfast when it should of been free

Our holiday hotel

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Good area
Cons: A larger breakfast area
Comfortable hotel, only drawback hotel is 25 minutes by taxi from Graceland and Beale Street, wasn't always easy to get a taxi which was very much required as we were on vacation from Scotland with no car. Breakfast some mornings was very busy and only a small amount of food left. Nice area of the city with good eating places and shops
