large room with ocean view

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: Large standard room with ocean view. Sitting area with gas fireplace. Large viewing window and sliding door.
Cons: Sliding door needs a way to secure it open at night for ventilaton/ambiance. Love seat cushions lacking support.
Location: Lots of walking opportunities via beaches or trails in the areas
Enjoyed watching the whales as they pasted the harbour entrance also the fishing bouts going and coming.

Very nice room - pleasing décor

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: The cleanliness and décor of the room.
Cons: The breakfast selection could be a little more exciting or change day by day. When I was there it was the same on both days.
Location: Enjoyed that the hotel was walking distance of a couple restaurants.
Booked a "Top Floor King Suite". The website indicated that the view was panoramic, I was disappointed by the highway being so close to the room and question the description of panoramic. However we did enjoy the size of the room, the comfortable décor and the fireplace. Next time I might invest in the room with the Jacuzzi just for the view. The breakfast was nice - not excellent. I enjoyed the Belgium waffle maker and indulged in waffles both mornings. The staff / attendant in the breakfast area was very friendly and accommodating. Make sure if you have a pet you request one of the pet friendly rooms. My friend showed up expectantly with her dog. The hotel was very understanding and accommodating with the last minute change/request, however they do have specific rooms for pets, I appreciate the last minute accommodations....

Tri level hotel near river, ocean & mountains.

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Older 80s/90s style hotel- no elevator, reminded me of a tiny apartment building. patio/balcony face the water. Staff was friendly enough. Seems like it's privately owned which is nice. Rooms were updated with nice looking beds, new carpet ( so it seemed). The fireplace in room is awesome. The price, view and location were the perfect package! rooms are cozy - balconies are Not private- just semi as there is a small barrier like what you'd see in a bathroom stall between each balcony. But it was ok. Nice little trail to the side of hotel that allows you to walk right onto beach. Town is cute and state park minutes away with more walking paths next to the ocean. I'd recommend anyone to this hotel. Obviously not a five star luxury hotel but who is looking for that in a woodsy eclectic town next to a state park!? Hotel is right off the highway which surprisingly enough was a very busy road and we could hear the traffic and fire truck sirens all night! Took away from feeling like you are at the beach for sure but, you are right on the beach and hear fog horns all night & day which I LOVE so I tuned the rest out!

Pros: Very nice clean walk-in shower (best I have seen)
Cons: We thought that we would get a bath tube by the window as seen in the hotel web pages but we did not.
Location: Glass beach, Noly Habour, Mendocinno botanical garden
We spent our 2015 new year eve there and were impressed with this hotel. It is convenient to the shopping, fast food and to the beach.

Great Place to Stay

Posted Dec 29, 2014
This hotel was very well worth the extra expense compared to others nearby. Every room overlooks the harbor entrance. We elected to upgrade to the room with a jetted tub, and it was well worth it. The room also includes a small microwave and decent sized fridge, so if you have leftovers, you could always reheat them the following day. The grocery store is not that far, so we loaded up on drinks and put in the fridge. The rooms don't have any AC... but you can open the sliding glass door to the balcony and allow it to cool down the room. For those who can't sleep with the sounds of the fog horn or waves splashing, you may want to keep this in mind when booking this hotel. Personally, I thought it was nice to fall asleep to. The only things that I didn't like about the hotel are: > Pillows are not very comfortable... (I always bring my own anyway) > Mattress is okay in comfort, not as nice as a Westin hotel, but decent. > While the room had a jetted tub, its very noisy (which I'm guessing it typical). So I try to be courteous to my hotel neighbors by not running it very early in the morning or late in the evening. When my neighbors ran their jetted tube, I could definitely hear the rumbling of the tub in my room. > The Highway 1 bridge is really close to the hotel. Depending on the room you get, you may hear the cars driving by. Luckily, the road is infrequently used in the evenings, so it should be pretty quiet. Overall, I will book this hotel again.

First Visit

Very beautiful room. Furniture great. Balcony nice. Next time I would do the jet tub room as all rooms had a nice view. No room service or elevator so your baying for the view. No nice beach near by but 2 nice dinner restaurants within walking distance. Robes are a great touch. Kinda pricey but for a romantic weekend I would stay there again.

Great Hotel, good service, OK location

Posted Oct 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
Room was great! Swiveling flat screen TV allows viewing from bed, couch, or in-room hot tub. The view is OK. At the time of visit, there's a large ditch with a backhoe outside. Beyond that, a good view of the ocean. The beach directly outside is best before night, as there is no lighting on the walk down, or near the beach parking area. The few nitpicky complains: The extra blanket in the closet was riddled with sand. The latch on the door was broken.
