Very relaxing!Posted Nov 7, 2013
Pros: Nice rooms and friendly staff.
Location: Mendocino, CA is a great little seaside town with lots of character and beauty.
Very nice property with friendly staff and beautiful grounds in an excellent location. Being able to bike and canoe from the property is great. The restaurant is all vegan though, but was good for breakfast for this carnivore!

Unique.....loved it!Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Rooms very likeable ........service and surrounding gardens very attractive.
Cons: Wish I had better idea about Oceanview.
Location: Beautiful part of the country..... Drove to coast to see sunset.....
Vegan dining !My husband did not want to have dinner without the meat or fish option.....so we ate dinner elsewhere. Breakfast was wonderful!! Grounds were beautiful! Rooms cosy and uniquely wonderful. Was dissapointed in view of ocean. We could hardly see any water......this was the only dissapointment of our stay.Like it was way in the distance, had to stand on tippy toes and look hard to see it. Staff said we could have seen it better from next floor up(?) very much a strech to say it was "Ocean View"! Was enjoyable......but somewaht misleading.

Lots to do close byPosted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: Wood burning fireplace in the rooms.
Location: Ocean, seafood, walks, biking, canoes, shopping and art stores.
Nice hotel and the staff were very helpful. The reserved room was not right but the staff did their best to accommodate. The grounds and facilities are great ( large garden, hot tub, indoor pool, fireplaces in room, etc). It is at the mouth of a river into the sea with canoe rentals to go up river.Bikes were also included with our room. It is close to Mendocino and the ocean. The restaurant (vegan only) has goods breakfast which is included but we never tried dinner as there are plenty of excellent ones nearby and in Fort Bragg (8 miles north)

Pros: Hospitality, food, cleanliness, amenities.
Location: See above.
It's hard to describe the feeling that we experienced at the Stanford Inn. It's a very peaceful place in a location on the Pacific coast. The hotel supplies firewood for your room. It has a great vegan restaurant with delicious food, even if you're nut a carrot cruncher, and has a full bar. The town is from the gold rush and timber wood era. Good food there too. There's a craggy cavey coastline that's fun to walk on and totally beautiful. You can take a nice ride to the state park to see the tallest redwood in California, presently. We enjoyed the river ride with beautiful blue herons and river otters. Bring your fleece.

Our stay at the Stanford Inn.Posted Aug 2, 2013
Pros: The rooms were large and had a fireplace. The balcony was a onderful place to relax and see the beautiful scenery.
Cons: Offer a choice of Vegan meals or standard meals.
Location: The main town of Mendocino ws just a three minute drive. It was also right on the Big River beach and the pacific beach.
Our experience was great other than the fact that their food os completely vegan which is not my or my wife's style. Beause of that, we only are breakfast there because it came with the room. Tis would probably not stop us from staying there again.

Lovely hotel close to the town of MendocinoPosted Jul 6, 2013
Pros: We loved the gardens surrounding the inn and the calm environment.
Cons: We did not enjoy the dinner at the restaurant very much and wished that the food had been more flavorful.
Location: This is a great location if in the Mendocino area. There are bikes that can be borrowed and ridden into town and there is a great indoor pool and spa
We spent one night at this lovely inn at Mendocino in the middle of a move between states. It was a welcome oasis of calm and the dog friendly environment was perfect for our accompanying furry family member.

One of the best places I've been.Posted Jun 21, 2013
Pros: Nice rooms with fireplaces all laid out for the fire; nice bathroom with amenities. The welcome cookies were delicious, and the llamas were unique.
Cons: Maybe an umbrella on the deck as the decks face the setting sun.
Location: Mendocino Village just over the river, facials, spas, & beach & headlands; Fort Bragg with Glass Beach & Skunk Train.
The room was lovely as was the view. The people were all pleasant and helpful. The whole concept of the place, including the vegan restaurant, the organic produce from their own gardens, the fireplaces in the rooms, the yoga, was wonderful. I actually felt restful and I was only there for a couple of days. Usually it takes me a week to relax on vacation. The place made me feel happy. A free full breakfast was included as well as free use of the bicycles and canoe rentals were close, at the river right next to the hotel.

Don't pass it up!Posted May 23, 2012
There had been a mixup in my request for 2 beds...they corrected it immediately. We were very comfortable and appreciated the peace and solitude of Stanford Inn. The solarium with pool, sauna and jacuzzi was wonderful, as was the deep tissue massage. Everyone was kind, polite and more than helpful. The vegan menu was incredible as well as educational, and the grounds are lush with foliage and flowers, not to mention the antics of the ravens soaring above. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

so wonderful, dont miss itPosted Jun 30, 2011
Stanford inn feels more like a visit to your warm, generous uncles ranch property than it does a hotel! the views, the gardens, the pet friendly grounds, the amazing organic attitude and Ravens restaurant is exceptional. It is unlike anything we have stayed at before and the owners vision is brought to reality. we will be back for sure!
