Pros: Near the ocean, convenient location to Gualala and other areas. Rooms were clean and spacious. Good value for the money.
Cons: Better parking.
Overall my stay at the Wharf's Master Inn was pleasant. The only downside was the parking, very narrow spaces and it took several tries to get out of the parking spaces due to the lack of space to back up and turn around.

The room wasn't comfortable, the beds squeaked and you could hear all your neighbors squeak also.

Great place for a personal or couple retreat

Posted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: TV service and free WiFi - view from deck out to the ocean - quiet location - some good options for food just below the hotel and more near by.
Cons: They are working on patches where the wood siding has been breaking down.
Location: restaurants in the area - historic lighthouse - Indian Casino - lots of beaches and parks nearby for walks - whale sighting tours - fishing - surfing
Very smooth registration - friendly and helpful desk staff - clean and comfortable room - jacuzzi tub

Sunset views overlooking the ocean

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Location: Set above the cove near the town of Point Arena with a variety of unique shops. Below the hotel is a great restaurant, fishing pier & small cove.
I stayed here for 3 days while looking for a house to buy in the area. Traveling alone, I felt safe and content. The restaurant below the hotel was charming with a deck overlooking the ocean, pier, fishermen. Fresh fish for dinner. I loved sitting on the private deck watching the sunset.

Wonderful stay for our anniversary!

Posted Dec 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Wharf Masters Inn was a delightful place for us to spend our anniversary! The employees were very kind- and even let us check in early. The hotel was in a great spot and our room had a beautiful view of the ocean. The fireplace was a cozy touch, along with the jacuzzi tub. There was a fantastic trailhead right behind our room (115) that took us on a 6 mile round trip cliff walk toward the lighthouse. It was perfect for us. The only complaint we'd have is that the bathroom stunk of mildew. I realize its hard for coastal homes and hotels to prevent mildew from happening, but the odor was pretty bad. We just kept the door closed the whole time.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your anniversary with us! Our local waste water treatment plant recently made repairs to it's facilities giving us last minutes notice which has caused a few issues with malodors. We have been treating drains in the affected rooms which should resolve the issues. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us and we hope to see you again soon!

A delightful dicovery

The Wharfmaster's Inn was exactly what we needed at the time of our stay! We loved it. As an architect, I could not help but being concerned about the likely cost -- and work -- associated with upkeep of such a romantic place of so many moving parts. Thanks again! Adam and Elizabeth Krivatsy

Amazing sunsets and...

Posted Nov 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
The sunsets from the balcony were amazing! The innkeepers are a nice couple. The Inn is situated on a cliff above a working wharf. I asked for a corner room, which they honored, and, unfortunately, I ended up with more of a view of the wharf's parking lot than the ocean. Not ideal since I picked this hotel so I would be as close as possible to the ocean. For the price, esp. in this area, this dated hotel was adequate but in need of lots of TLC if not a complete reno. The room was clean and the breakfast was the typical cold breakfast--lots of cereal, yogurt, make your own waffles, etc.--the bright spot was the hard boiled eggs. The parking lot on the main level is small, it you miss a spot you'll be climbing a long flight of stairs to make it to the main level. There's a couple of restaurants down by the wharf -- I only ate at the Chowder House, nothing special food wise and rather pricey for what you get. They do have a very large selection of beers if you are into that. I will likely check out other properties the next time I'm in the area. BTW, don't miss the botanical gardens in Fort Bragg!

Our winter sunsets are always amazing...when weather permits! Unfortunately we don't have a kitchen so we do the best we can to offer a very nice continental breakfast buffet. Our renovations are in progress with many updates inside each guest room while some of the major outside renovations are being scheduled at the end of our damp winter season. We agree that the Mendocino Botanical Gardens are not to be missed!
