Very small and pokey rooms

Posted Sep 1, 2014
A sea view superior room results in a view over a car park, building companies back yard and maybe if I hung my wife by the ankles of a very small balcony then she could just see the sea. I asked the staff and they said if you can see an inch of sea it's a sea view. Pool small and cramped, top floor view great but service very poor. Breakfast good, location a bit to far out of Mahon to walk 10 euro in taxi, local restaurants good

Excellent Hotel - Quiet and Peaceful

Posted Aug 4, 2014
We were looking for a quiet hotel to relax so this ticked all our boxes (not least if all because it was adults only). We were really surprised that in peak season the hotel appeared to be under-occupied but this was not a problem as we had no problem at any time during our stay securing a sun-bed or a place on the roof-top area by the jacuzzis (a real treat). We stayed on a half-board basis and breakfast and dinner was the usual buffet style affair. The food was the one thing that, if pushed, we found some fault with, although this is being picky amongst the backdrop of everything else being top notch. One word of warning - for some reason men have to wear long trousers when dining (in the evening only). A bit bizarre and many guys got caught out here - I was lucky as I had brought one pair with me and wore them every night of a 5-night stay. We both agreed that the room was one of the best that we have stayed in during a summer vacation and was definitely 4* . Drinks are not expensive at the hotel but we did find the bottle of wine we enjoy on the balcony in the evenings for a fraction of the price at the local SPAR shop just across the square. There are signs around the hotel stating that for quality and safety reasons guests are not allowed to bring food or drink into the hotel. We found this weird bit nobody said anything as we went in and out with our carrier bags lol. Great hotel - very quiet resort - perfect if you want to relax 😃

Pros: views, food , cleanliness of the hotel, staff
Location: near by there is lovely restaurants and a great view
We had a lovely time in the week that we stayed at the Barcelo hotel and would recommend the hotel to others. Just a short walk around the corner there is a lovely bay with restaurants with lovely food, The staff were very helpful, we found the first part of the holiday had lots of older people then change to all ages, we could not find a single thing wrong with holiday and have come home to rebook again in september. we had a great time

Nice hotel - Well worth staying at.

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Very clean. Breakfast varied and good. Close to harbour and all restaurants.
Cons: Only real gripe is that bar on roof terrace does not open till midday.
Location: Hotel is next to harbour and all it's restaurants. Not a lot to do in Es Castell but only a short bus ride to main town of Mahon.
Very nice hotel with polite staff always taking time to say hello and good morning. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Disappointing.

Posted May 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel and rooms are modern and comfortable. The communal areas, particularly the bar area are lacking in any sort of atmosphere. The rooms numbered 31/32/33 on each floor are affected by significant construction work with noise from 8am until 7pm.

Good position in Es Castell

Posted May 22, 2014
Pros: The position. Quiet - adults only hotel
Location: 5 mins stroll from Cala Fonts (restaurants) & Water taxi nearby for La Mola Bus stop 10 mins walk away for Mahon & connections
Clean functional room although shower unit floor is very slippy when wet. Good breakfast buffet - lots of variety. Cooked options made on demand. fresh fruit, cereal, cooked meats/cheeses, yogurts, bread and pastries all available.

Nice, modern hotel. Very beautiful location.

Posted Jan 8, 2014
Pros: The location, the roof terrace bar and the restaurants in the hotel. Breakfast was really good with lots of options.
At first we were given a small room with a small window. After we talked to reception we were given a normal size room with balcony and view of the pool.

Great hotel shame about the management

Posted Nov 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We turned at the hotel to find my wife booked the hotel through Hotels.com but made a mistake in only booking 1 person in an upgraded room with sea view. This was a genuine mistake and I told them I was happy to pay for breakfast for 4 days and offered them 100 euros to cover this. The hotel management would not budge and wanted over 200 euros which was the price we paid against the rack rate. This was totally unreasonable! I phoned Hotels.com and explained what had happened they cancelled our rooms and rebooked us in for and additional cost of less than £10. They also gave me a voucher towards my next booking. The hotel management was really awful they missed out on an additional 100 euros and because of the way we were treated we spent as little as possible in the hotel. Hotels.com saved us from a really bad experience which would have ruined our trip.

Clean hotel

Posted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: Stylish decor. Marvellous facilities.
Cons: The food wasn't great. Sausages at breakfast were like paste, Scrambled eggs tasted powdered. Evening meal wasn't much nicer, I only ate there one eve
Location: Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Horse riding wasn't far away either
Nice location, reception staff were really friendly and super helpful. Rooftop bar is a great space to enjoy the view and the sunshine.
