Inexpensive, close to Meredith

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: I picked this motel because of the price.
Cons: New linens and towels would help a lot.
Location: Weekend craft fair, boating, hiking
The motel was close to our event, inexpensive and okay.

Basic, clean, well-appointed, bear decor.

Posted Apr 19, 2013
Pros: It was clean, and had everything we needed.
Cons: No on-site office while we were there.
Location: Convenient to tourist attractions. Very plain building.
This small motel is plain and super-basic on the outside, and pleasant, quite clean, and well-appointed with kichenette on the inside. It was quiet. For people who like cute bear/forrest motif, it was decorated. For a low cost place, it was just fine. It is odd that there was no on-site office (a phone box was provided). We arrived and could not get a key. The phone directed us to go several miles away to another office, where we rec'd a key, some coupons, and very courteous attention. Expedia was apparently supposed to let us know that there was an off-site key location, but we did not receive that info.

Bare necessities in Bear Tree Lodge

Posted Oct 22, 2012
I didn't find the reception staff as helpful as I would have expected. They weren't forthcoming with information that I requested with regards to local amenities. The room was clean, reasonably well maintained and provided microwave and drink making facilities. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom and furnishings were clean. I'd struggle to recommend Bear Tree Lodge as a place to stay, as there appeared to be much better options in the area.

Not worth the money

Posted Oct 14, 2012
Pros: cute and rustic
Cons: beds and heat
Location: nice area
The person in the office was very accommodating. I feel the room was overpriced compared to the other rooms we stayed in during our two week trip. We spent three days at this lodge. For the price, there were few amenities. I slept on a twin bed with about a four inch mattress that had no box spring. The mattress was on a wooden platform. We returned to our rooms after the first day and housekeeping changed the towels but never made the beds. Unbelievable. We couldn't get the thermostat to move and were cold. While the room was clean, the carpet had huge stains. We took our shoes off at the door to keep the floor clean but it made our socks black on the bottom. Our next room was at a Hilton with a spa and indoor and outdoor pool for the same price as Bear Tree Lodge.

good value

The room was very clean and in good condition. there was not any information on local stores or restaurants. the first night the noise from the road was very loud, and also you have to check in at a second location which was never mentioned during the whole booking process.

Great Place

I needed a place to stay for one night for my nephew's wedding. The Bear Tree Lodge was the only place I could find in Meredith that fit the bill. I was pleasantly surprised by the room's spaciousness and comfort. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would recommend Bear Tree Lodge without hesitation.
