Lovely hotel to stay on the way to destination
Posted Jan 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel Caribe is the perfect place to stay to see Merida. It is located in a prime location, withing a block of Plaza Grande. The room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning kept it at a tolerable temperature. We had some mosquitos in our room, but I am pretty sure that we let them in. We would keep the windows and door open for some fresh air during the evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone going to Merida

Great Location and Atmosphere!
Posted Jan 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel Caribe gets an "A" for atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were tiny. Bed was OK. Our room was on the end on the top floor. The view was spectacular, the tiny pool unswimmable, but it was very pleasant on the patio. The patio furniture needed a good cleaning or replacement. Although there was no elevator, a staff member was available to carry bags upstairs. We did not eat at the hotel, but we heard that the food had improved recently.

caribe great location - bring your own pillow.

Pros: location, roof top, AM coffee & fruit in hotel.........
Cons: beds and pillows
Location: superb !
sadly once again - BEDS ! Mattresses somewhat hard and the pillows harder. Apart from that - the top floor location was wonderful with cathedral lights right above us and a pool at our door.

Great location in Centro
Posted Jan 29, 2012
Pros: Staff were responsive to the few problems I had. The location is perfect.
Cons: Room size on 3rd floor. If you are traveling as a couple take the 1st/2nd floor and walk upstairs to get to the pool.
Location: Literally in the "corner" of Hidalgo square. Within 3 or 4 blocks of just about anything you need. If you want Centro, it's hard to beat.
3rd floor rooms are small. Fine for one. The A/C was ice cold. Bed was firm. They installed a flat screen TV the 2nd week I was there. The staff moved things around to make a nice working area for my laptop. 3rd floor is close to the pool if that's important. Long trek up the steps. Internet worked when it worked. It was generally down for hours a day. Nice to walk out the hotel door into Hidalgo square. Food at the restaurant was quite good. Church bells begin at 0630 and continue aperiodically the rest of the day. Fall asleep to the courtyard fountain at night. Great staff; I felt safe in and around the hotel. It's a classy old place that grows on you after a few days.

Great for visiting downtown
Posted Jan 12, 2012
Location: Wonderful!
This hotel is really convenient and a good bargain if you want to stay downtown and be able to walk to the different sites without any hassle. Some of the rooms are a little run down, but the ambience of the hotel is great!

Good location, but that's about it!

Ok up front, you cant beat the location of this place. However, the staff is very indifferent to anything broken, and there are quite a few issues that should be addressed! I learned in order to flush the toilet, i had to fill the trash-can with water from the shower (that barely worked as is) and pour it into the toilet. I mentioned this to the front staff but they seemed pretty uninterested. Ditto with the internet! Also, there were a LOT of hairs from previous guests in the bathroom.

Perfect location

Pros: Location, character, restaurants nearby
Location: Couldn't have asked for better location
Lovely hotel - couldn't have asked for a better location with it being set back from the street and a block from the main square, so it was lovely and peaceful. Comfortable room - smaller but it had everything we needed and great air conditioning unit. Well-kept hotel also with a well maintained pool and gardens in the middle. Looks just like the pictures and we hope to stay here again in the future. Lovely character and story behind the building.

This was a very pleasant place to stay at. I got lucky and my room had no smell(from humidity) another person staying there had to view 3 rooms before finding one with no bad odor. Amazing view from the rooftop pool. Everyone was very helpful. It was also in a very convenient location.i would return.
