Dissapointing

Posted Jun 14, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Complete full remodeling
I reserved tho Hotel because of the franchise name 'HOTELES MISION', which is pretty good. But it was a great dissapointment, since the Hotel is at least 30 years old, the room had an old and beaten window air conditioning unit!!! The beds felt like solid wood!!!I even found a long black hair inside the supossedly clean sheets... The flat TV was ok as well as the bathroom but in general it is not what you would expect from a business class hotel. The one thing that is good is the LOCATION. You can walk to most of the cities landmarks and the famous local cuisine restaurant 'LOS VENADOS' is only two blocks away. Never again!!!!

In the heart of Merida

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: The beds, are too hard.
The location is pefect to walk to the Cathedral and Merida downtown. The hotel is in an old Spanish house meaking it very authentic and giving you the colonial experience.

Gorgeous hotel

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Pros: The wow factor of the entrance with the fountain, high ceilings. The beautiful art. Impressed with all. Beautiful and tastefull decorated.
Location: Central area, lots of other beautiful buildings to see. Great location for a walking tour. Tons of choice for shopping.
Located in the historical area of Merida, this hotel was pleasant and very beautiful. Close to the market square and an easy walk for touring the rest of area on foot. Rooms are clean, quiet, very spacious and well equipped. Ours had an extra sitting room also with tv. Great idea! I would stay here again anytime and can't wait to be back.

hammock in room, what else can you ask for?

Posted Jan 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
maybe it was pure luck or that it was low season but we got upgraded to a massive corner room, beautifully decorated in white and with a hammock. The hotel has also a beautiful facade and main courtyard in 100% Merida style. Friendly staff and good location

A disappointment...elevator was unreliable (we were on fifth floor)..wi-fi did not work in the room but it was OK in the lobby....staff were unhelpful...reservation confirmation said "complimentary breakfast is offered each morning" but staff compelled us to pay for it....I recommend avoiding this hotel...

Lovely place

Some tripadvisor reviewers were totally unfair about the Mision Merida Panamericana. It's an amalgamation of a funky 50s hotel built on the back of a stunning colonial building in the quieter Mejorada neighborhood in Centro. The rooms are clean, decent rooms for their era, ours was quite large and the bathrooms are modern with lots of hot water, water pressure etc. Someone complained about a smell - welcome to the tropics. If the room isn't aired out it has a smell of dampness in the walls - same as the airport and the local malls. Staff are wonderful. I booked for a week and stayed 5 extra days.
