This place is a dump!

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Everything!
There were spider webs in the big picture window in the dining room. There were holes in the carpet. The bedspreads looked like they belonged in a hotel people use for a few hours. The beds were awful and the bathroom was in desperate need of renovating and all of this for $139 per night. It is the only accommodation in the park so they get away with it but I think I have stayed in nicer one star hotels. It was a terrible disappointment. We have stayed in many National Park hotels and this was by far the worst.

Great to stay in the park

Posted Apr 26, 2015
Pros: Location in the park. Restaurant.
Room was small, but it was great to stay in the park. Would strongly recommend that to avoid a somewhat lengthy drive in and out each day. The restaurant was good.

Very convenient. The restaurant in the hotel was outstanding. Excellent choice if you are visiting Mesa Verde.

Great views almost salvage Far View Lodge

Posted Oct 23, 2014
Pros: The views, staff & the proximity to the sights & trails in Mesa Verde. The drive there passes view points for stunning vistas.
Cons: Better Insulation between rooms! New carpets & curtains, decent bedding! Making sunset views more easily accessible from the terrace!
Location: Navajo cliff dwellings (Check seasonal accessibility & book ahead). Hike the trails. Valley of the Ancients, Manchos, Durango & Aztec Navajo site.
Despite being beyond check in time of 3pm, our room wasn't ready. There was little apology, no facilities to safe store luggage meanwhile & no recognition of the impact this had on our precious vacation day- we would of planned our day differently basically! The walls are so thin between rooms you can hear adjacent occupant's conversations & when very late arrivals checked in, they were not allocated rooms away from existing guests resulting in a disturbed night. We were compensated with a free breakfast which was appreciated. The place needs upgrading! Carpets are sticky, curtains moth-eaten, pillows lumpy & the synthetic eider & blankets slide off the bed! The views are fantastic (not all rooms have uninterrupted views though) staff & waiters make the place & the food in the bar is good.

There was no TV. The walls were paper thin. We could hear the people in the next room as if they were sitting on the end of our bed. The snoring...and their conversations! The bathroom is so small you can hardly turn around in there! The phone didn't work to call from room to room. There was only one restaurant open in the whole park, and while the food was delicious the service was so slow!!! It took hours to get a meal. This hotel is close to everything. The Park is amazing and has so many great things to see, but I wouldn't stay here again.

Most rooms with a view

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: Restaurant no TVs in the room
Cons: Cell phone coverage. Better treatment of Expedia bookings
Location: Mesa Verde park
We stayed with a group of 12 couples. All couples that booked through the hotel got a room with a great view. Reservations through Expedia got the short end of the stick.

Great place to visit!

It was great to be able to stay in the park rather than drive in and out. Room view was a big plus. The Metate restaurant and Far View Lounge were perfect with surprizing good food at a reasonable price. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. We took the bus tour and it was a great way to learn about the history of the area. We lucked out being there when all the foliage was changing.

Wonderful time

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: We loved the food in the restaurant. Delicious, different and great service.
Cons: The bathrooms in the lobby needed more attention. Your lodge is too nice to have bathrooms in that shape.
Our drive through the ups and downs of the road were exciting. Arriving at the lodge was peaceful and lovely. It was all that we were looking for. A quiet room with balcony to sit and enjoy what came our way. The rooms were awesome. plenty of room for us and our son. Beds were warm and very comfy. I loved having a coffee maker for that first cup in the morning before you have to shower. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

Beautiful view from our newly refurbished room. Excellent dinner menu and knowledgable servers. We stayed an extra day to see all the sites.
