Hotel corello

Posted Sep 30, 2011 on Hotels.com
The restaurant service and food/wine was good. The bed comfortable and clean. Overall it didn't feel like a 4 * hotel hotel - the room was small and basic and the view from the room over a railway line. Being near the station was useful when we moved on to Palermo. Overall the star rating discrepancy appears to be a feature of Sicily .

Good for 3 nights max

Overall satisfaction only a 3 due to poor choice of breakfast (no fresh fruit/fruit juice) and expensive but mediocre dinner. Saving graces - lovely pool/pleasant staff/abundance of fresh, immaculate towels every day. Big gripe - hotel blurb omits to mention (obviously!)that the nearest beach (50 metres) is tiny and unattractive. This was a huge disappointment.

Nothing special, away from the centre

The hotel is clean and staff are helpful but not particularly friendl or welcoming. The same applies to the rooms. Everything seems to be 'grey'. And the hotel is not close to the beach.

In our opinion not a 4 star hotel

Posted Sep 4, 2006
We would rate this hotel as more a 3+ star rating definitely not 4. The pool area was good/clean and that is the only reason I would give it a + otherwise in my experience of hotels all over the world this would be a 3 star hotel. Rooms were clean but very small. Our twin room to me seemed to be a single which had two single beds put in it. There was no atmosphere in the small lounge/bar area, no music, so no attraction to stay for a drink. The inclusive breakfast was a joke, I don't think I have ever seen such a bad continental breakfast in any other hotel of any rating. The coffee was particularly awful using the large vacuum flasks, the type of which you would see at a hotel conference. This amazed both myself and my friend who grew up in Rome! To serve bad coffee in Italy is unbelievable. However, you could BUY an espresso/ capuccino/latte in the lounge area which we thought was pretty bad as that should have been included in the breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful but did not take action when we complained about our room being situation next to the fire escape which we did not assume would be a problem except that the staff were using it from 7am as a short-cut to other parts of the hotel and so we were woken every day at 7am by a constantly banging door. We had to put our our own sign (in Italian) on the door to stop it happening for the last couple of days we were there. Overall wouldn't recommend this hotel or stay there again.
