Hotel by the beachPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The location, the view, the room and the breakfast!
Cons: Provide free WIFI.
Location: It is a 20-25 mins walk to the center of town, from there you can take a Funivia for the great views and see attractions and eateries in town.
Reception was very friendly, breakfast was superb! Rooms are quite nice with a great beach view. Good AC running, for European hotel, you will hardly find a room with an AC. The hotel does not have very attractive front desk but as you go down to the dining, there is the wow factor! Really nice hotel, although located far out of the main drag. It is about 20-25 mins walk to the center.

Fab ViewsPosted Oct 11, 2013
Pros: The sea view
Cons: The road walk to the funivia. It is a little treacherous. Not good if you have kids with you
Location: Taormina is up the funivia and you can book many trips from there too and be picked up at the bottom of the funivia.
The hotel has an amazing location on the seaside with a lovely private beach and terrace. It is a little dated, a bit like stepping back in time, but the food was good and the staff were helpful.

Charming hotelPosted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: The info board in reception could have done with a timetable of local bus services as an alternative to the walk to the cable car.
Location: 15 mins walk to cable car for trip up to Taormina. Several good restaurants beach side around the terminal. Walk to Isola Bella island is worthwhile.
Sandy beach turning to shingle at water's edge. Pleasant setting about 1 km from the cable car terminal. Train line through tunnel so no disturbance (unlike some other hotels nearby). Simple room with sea view and pleasant outlook over the bay.

RIGHT ON MED, BUT OUTDATEDPosted Aug 27, 2013
great location on lido beach, around 1/2 mile walk to cable car to taormina. Unfortunately, the room is extremely outdated, think 1920s furniture. Maybe some would find it nostalgic, we found it appalling. Made the best of it, the beach is rocky, but the hotel is RIGHT on the water. the hotel staff was extremely friendly and the waitstaff were very nice and helpful. For some odd reason, they give you a key that's around 3 inches long and circular, and has your hotel name & room number on it, so don't lose that in public!!! If location is your main focus, the hotel is great, if not, don't stay here.

Great Location and ServicePosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
I rate value for money. This is not a 5 star hotel. The service is wonderful. My biggest surprise was that the restaurant was excellent. I mean really good. It is an older hotel. It is right on a private beach, the views the ocean noise is all there. I would stay again no issues at all. Great value in Taormna.

Good if you want a beach locationPosted Aug 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Hotel Lido Mediterranee is perhaps a little dated in style but it is very clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and served on the terrace overlooking the beach. The beach is sandy to the waters edge and then rather stony so beach "flats" are useful. If you want a beach location, this hotel is ideal, but it is too far from the town to walk (at least 45 mins) and there are only a few restaurants (although one very good one) are close by. The cable car is about a 10 minute walk along the busy road and costs 3 euros each way. All forms of transport into the town seems to be 3 euros including the hotel shuttle to the Hotel Med in town, making a family trip into the lovely Taormina rather expensive. I would stay here again for a long beach weekend, but if I was staying longer, I would prefer to be closer to the town.

Relax at the beachPosted Jul 16, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the beach
Cons: Breakfast was basic.
Location: On the beach but not handy to town. 15 min walk to cable car which is fine for me but maybe not for others.
Hotel has an old world charm but is slightly run down. Rooms are basic but a decent size. I recommend the dinner but dont wear shorts or you will be refused!?

Need a carPosted Jul 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great spot right on the water. Hotel is older but very classic style with large rooms and unique interior designs and lighting. View from balcony was outstanding. The only drawback was the 20 Euros each way for dinner so a 50 euro dinner was actually 90 when you factor in cab fare. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The beach area was small but well kept. Swimming was ok but the water is lined with large boulders which made standing difficult. Taormina was a cute little touristy town and if you are a shopper a lot of little stores. Had a great dinner at La Dracena. I would recommend this hotel.

On the beach in TaorminoPosted Jul 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel has beautiful full ocean front for all rooms. Fall asleep listening to the waves . Parking is free. You will definitely get your money's worth for the price. 5 stars. There is an excellent 3 Michelin star restaurant steps from the hotel.

Unpretentious but comfortable....Posted Jul 3, 2013
Pros: The terrace, beach access, lack of noise
Cons: Losing the sun from the beach too early in the afternoon, lack of fresh fruit & juices for breakfast, bitter tasting coffee.
Location: on beach, however due proximity of hotel to beach, lost the sun around 4.30pm on the beachside. 10 minute walk to Taormina cable car
Unpretentious, somewhat 'dated'...but comfortable hotel located on the beach next to Mazarro Bay. My room was very clean, comfortable and quiet with the sound of waves to lull one to sleep! Staff pleasant and friendly. Breakfast acceptable but nothing outstanding...#tinned fruit, apart from fresh melon! Carton fruit juice!# Cooked or continental choice of food. Pretty terrace overlooking the beach. Walking to the cable car ...to access the town of Taormina...is a pleasant ten ....but hair-raising... minute walk! It's a main road with no pavement. Cannot now remember the cost of my room via Expedia...maybe appx £100 a night for single occupancy....any increase of this price for this quality of hotel would not be appropriate.#this was a standard room, much more expensive for a 'luxury' room I believe.# Overall an enjoyable stay but improvements could be made on the quality of food. #did not eat any other meals here#. The furnishings and fittings are old fashioned but unless you want deluxe accommodation, there is little to complain about. HOWEVER the shower in my bathroom was somewhat challenging....a 21st century shower would have been very welcome!
