great sunrise view from room

Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: Sea lapping under window breakfast
Cons: Reliability of electricity and a safe pavement to the cable car
Location: Taormina has lots for everyone
charming if dated hotel which is a little too far away from the cable car along a dangerous road to walk down. But it is far from the throng of Taormina so is a relief to return to. Not sure aboiut the nightly powercuts, but breakfast was great !

Very Enjoyable

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Comfort; convenience; accessibility to area attractions; and the friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: It was impossible to shower without getting the bathroom floor wet. Only one English-speaking TV station ... BBC World News gets old quickly.
Location: Taormina is a fun town with shopping and great restaurants. Mt. Etna and Greek ruins at Siracusa are each about an hour drive.
The facilities are a bit dated, but the pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful staff more than made up for it. The direct views of the clear, blue Mediterranean were spectacular. Access to the beach was super convenient. It is also an easy drive to local attractions: Siracusa, Mount Etna. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

We spent 4 nights and overall enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a "faded former elegance" about it. Very friendly and professional service, excellent food ( we ate breakfast & two lunches). The room was spacious but the decor and bathrooms are tired, but it was clean and beds were comfortable. The hotel beach area is beautiful, the hotel should upgrade their old lounge chairs however. Its a 15 min walk to the funiviali (cable car) which takes you to Taormina. Its very quiet hotel at night, all we heard was the sound of the sea from our seaview room which was idyllic. The hotel is very close to the autostrada exit which is easy to get in/out of the area.

great hotel but they need an upgrade

Posted Jun 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
the hotel was great they have their own private beach. service was excellent. the only thing was that the hotel is in need of an upgrade...it was like a hotel in the 70s everything in the room was so hold with a big bulky tv and dark...

The restaurant and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially when my wife mentioned she was Sicilian. Excellent location to get to Taormina.

Hotel by the beach

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The location, the view, the room and the breakfast!
Cons: Provide free WIFI.
Location: It is a 20-25 mins walk to the center of town, from there you can take a Funivia for the great views and see attractions and eateries in town.
Reception was very friendly, breakfast was superb! Rooms are quite nice with a great beach view. Good AC running, for European hotel, you will hardly find a room with an AC. The hotel does not have very attractive front desk but as you go down to the dining, there is the wow factor! Really nice hotel, although located far out of the main drag. It is about 20-25 mins walk to the center.

Fab Views

Pros: The sea view
Cons: The road walk to the funivia. It is a little treacherous. Not good if you have kids with you
Location: Taormina is up the funivia and you can book many trips from there too and be picked up at the bottom of the funivia.
The hotel has an amazing location on the seaside with a lovely private beach and terrace. It is a little dated, a bit like stepping back in time, but the food was good and the staff were helpful.

Charming hotel

Posted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: The info board in reception could have done with a timetable of local bus services as an alternative to the walk to the cable car.
Location: 15 mins walk to cable car for trip up to Taormina. Several good restaurants beach side around the terminal. Walk to Isola Bella island is worthwhile.
Sandy beach turning to shingle at water's edge. Pleasant setting about 1 km from the cable car terminal. Train line through tunnel so no disturbance (unlike some other hotels nearby). Simple room with sea view and pleasant outlook over the bay.

Charming, but showing its age

Posted Oct 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was a nice little hotel with excellent service. Unfortunately the rooms and common areas are really showing their age. Everything in our room worked fine and some elements like the bedding were brand new, however, it couldn't shake that old feeling. Again, I can't say enough good things about the staff, from front desk to the lifeguard everyone was friendly, helpful and efficient. "Subito!" (Right away) was heard quite often. The website says they are going to renovate in fall/winter 2013, so I would probably give them another stay after that to see the updates.
