Nice comfortable older hotel. Not far from some of the better sights of Messina. Good breakfast, attentive serving staff, english speaking hotel desk staff as well. Older hotel could use some updating but clean and comfortable.

It was a nice surprise to find out the breakfast was free,as it says in the discription it is 10 euros person. It was a very good breakfast lots of choices

The moaning and groaning of the plumbing made me laugh. Never heard such sounds. I would stay here again. Close to the train station and ferry and just two blocks from the main shopping street.

Only stayed one night, a little dated (some might say authentic) but perfectly located for walking to the port or train station. The breakfast was varied and decent. I’d stay there again.

The hotel was under renovation on outside. Interior was outdated and requires renovation as well. Elevator from garage was out of order and had to walk around the block to enter the hotel. Staff was very friendly. Room was big. Walking distance to center, shops and restaurants.

Top class and great value
It’s an older hotel, with lots of period styles, very classy, great staff. I really enjoyed my stay and the mini bar had great selection.

Great location, close to the train station and ferry. The room was huge and the bed super comfy. Unfortunately we were never able to access the wifi. It had to be fine thru a Facebook acct.

Excellent Room in Great Location
An excellent location to walk to many attractions and restaurants. Room was clean and spacious. Front desk was very welcoming. Parking co-located with property.

Our air conditioning unit leaked water on our floor in the middle of the night and we didn’t know it until we walked in the water on the way to the bathroom. It clearly had leaked many times before. Some of the curtains in the room were sagging and partially off their brackets. The young man in the parking garage was fabulous. The hostess at a nearby restaurant gave us better sight seeing advice than the hotel.

The hotel is outdated. I think it was the nicest about 40 years ago. It needs an overhaul including new tv and door keys. We had ants in our room as well. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it.

Great location! The hotel decor is a bit dated but I actually found that very charming and part of the reason why I liked it. The free overnight parking was a bonus. I hate that most hotels add for parking.

Hotel ignored a message from us asking to move the reservation to the next night because Alitalia went on strike. Our flight to Italy was canceled, so we could not get there. They charged us anyway and then agreed to give us a "discounted" rate for the next night when we arrived. So we had to pay for two nights. Other than that, okay. Breakfast was outstanding.

This hotel is disgusting. Old, dirty, musty, tired, hardest bed ever. Staff try their best to help guests but they can’t disguise their frustration about working in such a dump

Nice comfortable bed and big bathtub with window that opens for fresh air! Great wifi with bus and taxi service at front door. Close to port, bus terminal, stores and restaurants. Affordable with a great location!

The location near the train station was great. It had close access to shopping district and restaurants. The room and bed were fine, but the overall condition of the hotel is shabby. Corridor carpets were worn, room had no extra electrical outlets, WiFi was weak.

Well i bought a bag of potatoes chips .they changed me 6.50 euros plus 12.50 euros tax .i bought the same bag in supermarket around the corner for 1.00 euro .please informed. Use local supermarkets. Its cheeper ,fresher ,and morw varieties.

Don’t miss this 70s vintage hotel - it’s wonderful
We love this hotel. It is classic vintage 70 S and an absolute gem. Long may it stay as it is and those people who said it needed modernising or freshening up have no taste. The Royal Palace is a perfect piece of vintage, not hipster but absolutely authentic. If you are interested in design or 20 th century decor and architecture then go to the Royal. Staff helpful, rooms sooo spacious and breakfast is wonderful.

Classic Hotel Near Messina Train Station
Older hotel beginning to show its age, bit the room was clean and comfortable, everything worked and the breakfast was excellent. Location very convenient to the Messina Train Station.

Hotel is close to the train station, but nothing else. There are very few places to eat nearby at night. The hotel is very old and in poor repair. The WiFi is spotty and very slow.
