No water after 10 pmPosted Jul 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
No water after 10 pm and no warning that the water could be turned off. A "whatever" attitude from the receptionist. Aside from that, great views and convenient to the city. Small room.

Splendid hotel is a funny place....i felt i was back in the 70s and waiting for Marlon Brandon, the goodfather, to come out from one of the room......is in need of upgrade asap.....location is absolutely fantasti, staff is great, friendly helpful and they can speak english german french.....impressive, pool was fab, views were stunning, breakfast was fresh and tasty, croissant were fresh and warm every morning.....i would definetly go back to the same hotel, but try to get a room at the top floor, i was on the 2nd and in the morning was a bit noisy....

Affordable old world characterPosted Oct 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
The staff in this lovely, charming old world hotel were really friendly and helpful. I loved the hallways which seemed to meander endlessly, with hidden corners everywhere. The place was spotless. The beds were comfortable if small but I think that may be a feature of hotels in this price range. There was just one pillow per bed but a request for extras got some more. The view over the bay was wonderful even though I was not expecting a view. In terms of the town the location was great Would definitely go back

The hotel was very good value. Our room was very small, but, comfortable.
The pool was a welcome addition in AugustPosted Aug 25, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed at the hotel during the height of the turist season in August. My kids loved the pool, as it was very refreshing during the 100 degree days. There is limited seating around the pool but they have a small bar built into the rock and they play a mix of American and Italian music. The free breakfast was typical of a Europen breakfast: milk, juice coffee, danishes, cheese, ham and some cereal. The views from the breakfast room and the pool are breathtaking. Overlooks the ocean. The rooms are clean but very bare, almost depressing. White walls, brown furniture, no pictures in the rooms. We had a room for 5 which had 2 twin beds in 1 room and a queen and a twin in the other room. Shower was good. Contrary to what we read, there is NO parking at this hotel. It is on a tight side street and there are about 3 areas where you can pull over in the front of the hotel, but they are not really parking spaces. You need to park at the parking garage at the base on the town "Lumbi" I think it was called. You can't miss it. Taormina is not a big city, you can walk the entire area so the hotel would be considered near the major sites. It is off on a side street about a 5 minute walk to the main arch of the city.

Hotel will nickle and dime youPosted Jun 20, 2012 on Hotels.com
We would have rated this hotel higher, but the hotel is very misleading in their advertising. They advertise air conditioning, but they don't tell you it costs 10 euros to use! Similarly, they don't allow you to take towels to the pool or beach and try to charge you 3 euros to do so. The room was ok, but hot without A/C in the height of the summer. The front desk was helpful and kind in arranging transportation to the beach. The pool was a big plus, a nice retreat with a small bar on the 3rd floor. Overall ok hotel, but only for a short stay. Breakfast decent. Hotel a close walk to the main street, a big plus.

The hotel itself is an impressive facility set in very attractive grounds and close to the sea (although a 20-30 minute walk to main attractions in Syracuse e.g. archeological park and Ortygia). Our main complaints were that 1) when we stayed on a Saturday night in August, the hotel staff omitted to mention they had a wedding party booked - which resulted in loud music until 1.30AM; and 2) the air conditioning unit in our room was not working and despite reassurances from the hotel staff that this would be dealt with, it was not fixed during our 2 night stay.
