"Wow, what a find!"
Fantastic 5 star find and Expedia special rate was an incredible bonus but you need a car to get there and around. Once off the highway it's one road but you've got 30 minutes of climbing with lots of turns. Plan to get there in the daytime until you learn the road. Elegant and modern building, full spa, outdoor pool and beautifully appointed rooms and common areas. Surrounded by golf course and vineyard perched on the northface of Mt. Etna volcano. You see the steam rising and snow on the cap. 45-60 minutes from Taormina (don't miss it) Giardini Naxos(the beaches city).Plenty to chose for breakfast and all staff friendly and helpful. A/C; good size washroom; good beds; fridge and mini bar; flastscreen LCD etc. and our room had a patio with good privacy. Place is absolutely spotless. Some of the artwork was "interesting". They offer dinner but we ate out.

"Main palace hotel"
We stayed at the main palace hotel located about 16 km both of Taormina and used this as a base to see Taormina, Messina, my Etna, and if course Stromboli's very active vulcano which can be reached by boat and seen at night unless you decide to do one of the nightly hikes. The location of the hotel is away from the busy tourist areas and does require a car. The staff is friendly but most speak poor English and communication was an issue at times. Also expect to pay for parking and Internet unless you can settle with the free connection in the bar below. Getting around is easy using the affordable freeways.

"The hotel is well situated for sight seeing.etc"
The hotel was excellent and you felt in it you received value for money and were very safe as a tourist. However the rest of the Island is a rip off made worse by their bad economic situation .They were always trying to rip you off as a Tourist to make themselves money as they are so desperate for cash. The whole Island is the law of the jungle and this is very obvious on the roads.I am a superb Driver and an advanced motorist and we hired a Hertz car.The car was sound and the car hire company good apart from us paying £400 for a weeks car hire fully inclusive of a Insurance that we were told was not the case when we collected it from the Airport. We had to pay another £245 for fully comprehensive Insurance.I am SO glad we took it out as they drive like lunatics. No one pays attention to speed limits .they undertake you as well as overtake you.Dont care if you drink and drive and nearly all of the cars are bashed up.They look like and drive like they have a dodgem car.The highlight of the holiday was seeing and driving up the SS92 up Mt Etna that was in eruption while we were in Grandi Naxos. Two days after we went to the very top Tourist were forbidden as the Volcano was determined too unstable. I would never go back to Scilly. You can see how the Maffia sprung up.You hardly ever see the Police and when you do you can't trust them which is a ghastly feeling.Food like all of Italy fantastic but at a price .I was in Barbados Hilton last yr value for money and FANTASTIC .

"A Pleasant Stay in small Sicilian town"
A good value for the money. Very pleasant and helpful receptionist. Simple and good breakfast buffet. No restaurant in the hotel, but a lively local "Bar Albatrose" located in front, which met our needs for our one night stay here. Free parking in the rear. A few minutes drive off the Autostada, but easy to find on the main road through town.

"Good location to Taormina centre, wonderful views"
We had an excellent holiday in Taormina and found this hotel to be an excellent base for the town. It had wonderful views over the bay and of Etna. These you were able to enjoy from the top floor breakfast room. Breakfast was fine but not the most exciting in the world. For British tastes probably too much sweet stuff, and would have appreciated a wider range of bread or even toast. The room we had was a garden view, as someone said previously, more a tennis court view. Again no complaints only a few moans in that it had a "quirky" over the bath shower and the hanging space was very high. They had a pole to help you hang your clothes up and down. I had to resort to using the bathroom stool to reach. the plus was excellent wifi and the beach resort. Although you had to be transferred the journey itself was interesting. The best part was the staff who were very helpful and its position. Within minutes you were in the town centre and all the facilities. The bus station was just a short distance away as well. All in all would recommend this hotel and will return again. Next time we would upgrade to a sea view room and advise others to do the same.

"Tired, run-down, disappointing"
We paid top dollar for 2 suites on a half hoard basis. The rooms were dimly lit, the furniture ancient, the beds uncomfortable and the food simply disgusting. Each Suite had private swimming pools, which were unheated, as was the main hotel swimming pool. This might work in mid-summer, but in October/November, the water in the pools were unbearably cold and therefore pointless. Even though we had paid in advance for the entire stay (Over £5000 for 4 nights!), we decided to write-off the whole amount and save our holiday. We checked into the Hotel Timeo, which was simply divine and, incredibly, less expensive than this dump - and the pool was heated!

"Best Honeymoon Ever!!"
I honestly can't say enough about this hotel. It brings the idea of luxury to a whole other level! First of all, it is so pretty inside! Our room was more than amazing. We had a view of the water that was absolutely breath taking. We ate breakfast on our balcony every morning. I know this is random, but our room had a doorbell, fresh flowers everyday, and room service to die for. Our honeymoon at this hotel could not have been better! The staff is also excellent. Our airline lost our luggage, but with the help of the front desk staff, our luggage was returned the next day...whereas the airline initially told us it would take two days. The staff was so attentive that it seemed like we were the only guests there. The price of this hotel may be a little expensive, but it is definitely worth it. Perks such as a boat tour up the coast, rides into the main part of the city, and everything else just makes this hotel great. We'll definitely be returning!
