This hotel is almost a five star establishment in many ways. Excellent pool attendants who ensure sunbeds are available and positioned just right. No overcrowded pool area. Staff friendly and helpful. Stunning sea views. Perfect location.

Excellent Hotel - close to town

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Cons: Maybe the cooked breakfast could have a vegetarian option ie mushrooms, beans, potato fritters
Great experience from start to finish. Reception staff very friendly, pool staff amazing, never experienced such attentive staff. Good idea that the staff remove beach towels if sun bed not been used for over an hour. The hotel is built on the side of a cliff, great feature in the corridors leading to rooms. To get to the town you have to climb 37 steps which after a couple of days does get easier. Generally we do not visit to the same place twice, however this hotel will be an exception to the rule!

Dear Guest, thank you for having taken the time to share your positive experience with other Expedia travellers. We are delighted to read that your stay was great and would like to inform you that your nice comments have been shared with all our team. The Hotel, built on a rocky hill, over the marvellous Mediterranean sea, gives outstanding views to all our kind Guests. Those 37 steps are all worth as you wrote but if our Guests wish to, they could be easily avoided using our free shuttle service available on request, to reach the top entrance. Thanking you again for your preference, we look forward to welcome you back at Hotel Monte Tauro in Taormina very soon Warmest regards, Francesca Bambara PR Communication&Guest Relation Acc.

Dear Guest, We thank you for your kind feedback and for having taken the time to share your positive experience with other Expedia travellers. We are delighted to read that your stay was great either for the pool facilities than the good variety of food at the buffet breakfast. Our Grill bar by the pool is open day time to offer our Guests a choice of drinks and light lunch breaks. From mid June we have inaugurated the T-restaurant, close to the pool area, the perfect location where to relax and taste Sicilian traditional menus, under a starry sky! As you wrote, in town there are several choices of Bars and Restaurants and the good thing is that Hotel Monte Tauro is located only few steps way from the very centre of Taormina., remaining on a stunning location ovelooking the sea, which offers the peaceful relax needed on holidays. Thanking you again for your preference, we hope to welcome you back in Taormina at Hotel Monte Tauro, very soon! Warmest regards, Francesca Bambara Communication&Guest Relation Acc.

Good location for access to town

Posted Jun 10, 2015
Pros: Views, pool, staff
Cons: Room size small and layout awkward
Location: Very close to town, Greek theatre and park, lots of restaurants and shops.
Hotel is good, though people should be aware that access is via a steep path up to get to town. Rooms are adequate and all have sea view and balcony, but quite small and access to wardrobe was difficult. Allegedly the Classic Room could take 3 people, but we couldn't work out how! Staff were good - some quirky - pool excellent and run like a military operation. Breakfasts good too - especially liked the opportunity to squeeze your own juice and boil your own eggs, not forgetting granite and brioche Sicilian breakfast.

Dear Guest, we are glad to read your positive feedback and pleased to know you had the chance to appreciate the Hotel Monte Tauro either for its facilities than for the very close walk to reach the centre of town. Even though that steep path at the entrance, which could be easily avoided by requesting the free shuttle service at the reception desk. It drops our guests up to the top entrance of the Hotel in a few seconds. We are delighted to be aware that you have enjoyed Buffet Breakfast which is one of our strongest point because of the big variety of traditional fresh food, the squeeze your self machine to make your own fresh orange juice is most appreciate from our Customer and we are happy to know it was appreciate by you as well!! Thanking you again for your preference we hope to welcome you back at Hotel Monte Tauro soon. Francesca Bambara PR Communication &Guest Relation Acc

Hotel ok Views lovely.

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: Great views, balcony's really nice with lots of flowers.
Cons: Rooms need updating too drabb and quite basic. Pool bar needs to be opened and maned. Some hot food at breakfast eg. bacon.
Location: Location good right on front and about 5/10 min to Main Street with shops along the way. Steep hill up to road from hotel 37 double steps.
Hotel ok but some parts disappointing, room style 70's a bit drabb and in need of updating, lovely view from rooms though along the coast. Pool good but pool bar not open enough. Breakfast room really nice with a great view but not enough hot food for breakfast eg. no bacon.

Fantastic location

Pros: Location, views from the balcony, and helpful staff.
Cons: Softer beds and pillows
The beds could have been a bit more comfortable (and not on rollers!) But very helpful staff and perfect location.

Hotel with lovely view, pool very clean

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: The view and clean pool and nice gentleman who looked after the pool and sun beds as he couldn't do enough for you
Cons: Employ some friendly receptionist and complimentary tea and coffee in the room
Location: Apart from steep hill to climb to get out of hotel it was extremely close to shops and loads of restaurants
Reception staff appear to be hidden behind the desk not very friendly whenever you entered the hotel, breakfast very limited, useless toaster, coffee not very nice quite limited menu unless you eat cake for breakfast. Tea and coffee in room extremely expensive like €3 for sachet of coffee and €2.50 for a tea bag, normally this facility is complimentary but beware not at all here

fantastic views

Posted Sep 16, 2014
We only stayed in the Monte Tauro for two nights as we were in Sicily for a wedding but we found the hotel extremely comfortable and the hotel staff very helpful. It was very expensive so I don't think we could have afforded to stay for any longer than a weekend and I'm not sure how value for money it was. However, the pool was lovely but you do have to arrive early as the other hotel guests do the usual thing of bagging sun loungers with their towels, which is annoying. However, the hotel do have a policy of removing any towels that have been left there for longer than an hour, which is pretty novel! Overall I'm not sure we would come back to this hotel because of the price, but it was a very comfortable stay whilst we were there.
