The hotel is perfect for folks who want the beach more than anything else. It does have a private beach just down the steps from the hotel's deck. The beach is well taken care of - on the last day we saw a small bulldozer leveling the pebbles. That's right - pebbles. You won't find good sand anywhere in Sorrento.
The hotel is way off the main drag, but it has a free-during-the-day, 1 euro at night shuttle that goes back and forth every hour and takes you right to downtown Sorrento. Note that there's a no-shuttle window between 6:30 and 10 pm to get back to the hotel. The shuttle was always on time, sometimes early, and it makes you appreciate and admire Italian driving. :) The shuttle rides takes ~15 minutes.
Do contact the hotel prior to your arrival if you are arriving by train and arrange for the shuttle pickup.
Most of the guests in the hotel were older folks - in fact, other than me and my wife and another young married couple, everybody else was in the 50s-60s-... You won't find any nightlife activities at the hotel or in the surrounding area. They had live music every night - typical Italian repertoire. So if action is what you are after, stay in Sorrento (this hotel is technically speaking is located in Meta). Not that there's much action at night anyway - we saw ads for a couple of clubs, but didn't get a sense that there was much to do after the dinner.
So, to summarize, if you want the beach in Sorrento, this hotel is a great choice.

Very friendly, helpful owners in a quiet village location. Good public transport and sunny 'lido style' beaches within walking distance. Delicious local resturants as well and good location for visits to Amalfi Coast/Herculaneum. Excellent guided walking/food tasting tour all around Meta 'old town' was a must!

Great owners, great room, great home away from home. I was very happy to have a large room with my own kitchenette and balcony. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I travel led as a single female and this Villa was great, also less than a 5 minute walk from the train (exit the train station, turn right, and go down the stairs to the right. On the other side of the tunnel you will come up on an Italian Post Office, the B&B is right there. )

Very close to the local railway and the drop off point for the airport bus service to Naples.
The apartments are set away from the tourist spot. When you exit the door you are imeadiately in part of the old town.a couple of doors up is a great shop doing fresh baked bread and a host of local delicacies.
We had a standard apartment which was more than adequate at a very reasonable rate.the higher priced ones must be special.
The owner Luginee spoke perfect English and was help full in the extreme.
All in all a great experience.

For an American used to large cars the parking as well as the driving in the town of Meta could prove to be a bit of a challenge, but other than that I loved the place and Maria is super-nice! Unlike generic rooms at a hotel, my room was adorable and had personality. Maria gave me a tour of her lovely gardens and it was like a little paradise. If I ever go back to that area of Italy I want to stay in the same B&B.

The ancient port town of Meta di Sorrento sits on the plain east of Sorrento and boasts the region's longest beach, Spiaggia Alimuri. The 18th-century Basilica, with its beautiful frescoes, is the symbol of the town and a must-see. Known for its delicious wine and food, visitors to this area in August can enjoy the Fior di Latte cheese festival, celebrating one of the popular local cheeses.
