“Perfect location”

In Mexico City you want to stay in the Historical District. And the Majestic Hotel has a perfect location facing the Zocalo. The neighborhood is vibrant; and the hotel is completely "Mexican" in decor and design. Highly recommended.

“Great hotel except for a nearby club with load music”

The hotel was amazing, perfect location, great views, great service, very clean and a great flair. The only problem we had was the noise level. We were facing the direction of a club which was pretty loud during the night. We stayed on a weekend. Might be different during the week.

“Great Location, hard bed!”

The location is located right across the street from the Zocalo. There are shops and cafes in the surrounding areas as well as beautiful churches. The subway system is also close bye and you can walk around the Downtown area. The hotel has its charm, the rooms are clean, however, the bed is HARD and uncomfortable and there are no heaters; we had to ask for an extra blanket. The service was good, if you need anything all you have to do is ask. The hotel is good for those who will be sightseeing and don't care about comfort.

Area recommendations
I recommend the Downtown area (Zocalo) because there is so much to see and do. There are governent offices, shops, cafes, churches, museums and aztec ruins. Another good thing about the Zocalo area is that the metro transit system is at walking distance. You can also walk around and see many things without having to catch a taxi.
Traveler's tip
My husband I went to Mexico City in November and there was a great light show in the Zocalo. The light show is regularly shown on September the 15th, but it was brought back in Novembers, so we were in luck. I would recommend travelers to go in September to catch the light show----it is something you have to see in person. Also, if you do see the light show, the best place to see it from is at the Best Western Majestic's restaurant located on the 7th floor. You can also see it from any room in the hotel that is facing the Zocalo.

“Hotel Best Western Majestic”

Whether or not I would recommend it depends on what you want. It is a very old hotel which shows its age. Location has lots of noise being across the street from the main square. If you want comfort & quiet do NOT go. If you want the very best location (walking distance to lots of things) this is the hotel for you.

“Fine Older Hotel”

I have stayed at the Majestic over a period of many years. It's a fine hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. It would be nice to have air conditioning, but overall that is a minor problem.....also, being owned by an American Corp., one would think an ice machine somewhere in the building would be a nice touch. However, the Majestic is a fine example of the older hotel in Mexico City and its location is particularly good not to mention the best view in town from the 7th floor roof top restaurant. I will continue to stay here on my next visits.

Traveler's tip
Make yourself completely familiar with hotel room phone policies and avoid the 100.00 USD bill I received at the end of a six day stay! Also use regular taxis (not private drivers) for a real savings....Be sure to use taxis with license plates that begin with A or B

“Great Location, beautiful views”

I gave my review a overall "3" because of the following: Pluses: Location, location, location! The three most important characteristics in real estate. The Best Western Majestic is in the center of it all. The Zocalo, museums, theaters, shops, people, we never had to take a taxi anywhere! The view from the roof top restaurant was worth a million! The hotel staff were friendly. The draw backs. The room. The bathroom was horrible. The shower sprayed everywhere and the door didn't close. That wasn't the worst though. How would you like to wake up at 3am to cigarette smoke from the room next door! Yes the room was connected by "semi" locked doors to two other rooms on each side. So, at 3am our neighbor would wake up and light up (Our room was a non-smoking room)! Ouch! If you're the type that is going to be locked up in your room a lot and are very picky (Lupe), I would not recommend it. But, if you're going to be out and about it's worth it! 3 STARS

“Zocalo's best hotel!”

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for the first time. We loved the location, right across from the Cathedral and what was once the Great Aztec Temple, and access to the Metro, as we did our own tours. The building is an amazing structure; the condition and maintenance of the hotel and rooms are impressive, and the staff were absolutely helpful and friendly. We plan to go back and stay at the same hotel.

Traveler's tip
Wherever I go, if there is good public transportation, I use it. I make sure I mix in with the population, and I'm always aware of my surroundings.
