"Great hotel in central Mexico City"
We would highly recommend the NH Centro Historico hotel to any one who wants a hotel that is within 1 1/2 block of the main square, is clean, and good value for the money. Everything's in walking distance, the subway is about 3 blocks away, lots of good shopping on the streets surrounding the hotel. We were out and about during the day and evening, never felt threatened or unsafe. Lots of police presence in the area, but they just seem to be lounging around, never intrusive or a problem. Many of the streets in area are blocked off to vehicle traffic, which makes strolling around a real pleasure. We visited many of the historic buildings and museums in the area, all within an easy walk(we are in our 70's). Hotel has a good restaurant on the top floor, a little pricey, but excellent food and service. There is a Starbucks on the main floor, and another restaurant that serves Americano food on the street, as part of the hotel building. While you are only a couple of blocks away from a busy area, the hotel is on a quiet street, so noise at night is not a problem. Rooms are a bit small, by north American standards, but clean and modern. Beds were to North American standard, new and comfortable. Maid service was excellent...as an example, when we unpacked, we noticed that we had forgot our toothbrushes at home. We asked a maid where we could purchase some, she said to wait...within 20 minutes two toothbrushes and toothpaste were delivered to the room complementary.
