Fountanebleu Not What I Expected

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: Great location, people-watching, restaurants.
Cons: Above
Location: Easy to get to airport, UM, shopping. Walk along intercoastal and look at million dollar homes and yachts.
Overpriced (thirty five dollars for sunblock), no in-room coffee (a pot delivered is ten dollars and takes 45 minutes), Noisy - (music blaring at poolside and incessant traffic sirens), Overcrowded (hard to get a chair at pool or beach and they're packed like sardines), valet to get car can take a half hour. Virtually no water activities (jet skis only). Property is so huge it is tedious to get around. Disappointing overall.

Too expensive, too crowded

If you are looking for good service and nice staff, stay at another hotel. Hotel is beautiful but very crowded and the staff was not very helpful.

5 days on Miami beach

Posted Feb 27, 2015
first time at Miami Beach and we stayed at the Fontainebleu. The place is pretty massive but staff are readily available so you don't feel lost. The main "Chateau" as they call it is impressive , glamorous decor, bars restaurants, shops, all high end and top quality. The pool side bars and restaurants all have a feel of Ibiza style pool party atmosphere on the weekend, all very cool and chic. We spent our time on the beach rather than the pool where the hotel provide sun loungers and waiter service for food and drinks. The hotel also has the LIV club which is a bit of a celebrity spot if you like that kind of thing. It's a nice one hour walk in the morning on the boardwalk to Ocean Drive. So location wise it is a bit out of the way from the buzz of Ocean Drive in the evening but is a destination in it's own right. Maybe the W hotel is better located.

Can't beat the view at Fontainebleau

We stay at this hotel for 3 days everytime we come to Miami. The views from the ocean view balcony suites are breathtaking The resort grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained.

The location of the Fountainebleau

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: I liked the location of the hotel. Maid service was always done promptly even though the hotel was very crowded. The Bleau Bar was lively at night.
Cons: For the price charged for the room, I was surprised how "tired" it was. Towels were old, shower was old, some furniture showed serious signs of wear.
Location: Very close to South Beach and downtown Miami. Many good restaurants.
The location of the Fountainebleau was key since we were attending the Miami Boat show. We have stayed there 2 of the last 3 years. Both times, we had to wait for our room to be ready well past the 4pm check in time. We were happy to be upgraded to a junior suite with a fantastic view of the boat show. We enjoyed the Michael McDonald concert which was conveniently held on Valentine's Day at the hotel ballroom. We went to the Michael Mina small plate restaurant, the sushi bar and the outdoor restaurant by the pool. All were extremely overpriced and food was average for the price. We had 3 different waiters at the sushi bar in the hour and a half it took to eat there. Had to fight with a waitress in the Bleau Bar when we sat at a table she said she was "saving" for other customers. Told her we were happy to spend money at her table, but we got there first. We used the work out room. It was extremely crowded and they ran out of towels. We did not get to the pool or beach this visit. Taxis were always readily available. If it wasn't for the fact that we could walk out the door and be at the boat show, we would probably stay somewhere else.

Everyone was so polite and friendly.

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: It was a lovely hotel, very large, a bit overwhelming.
Cons: Fix your breakfast buffet, and have a coffee maker in all rooms. There seems to be more concern over your mini bar than a cup of coffee ready upon up
Location: Miami beach. SOBE wine and food festival. The prices were so high to get into any event it priced us right out of attending any event.
We had dinner at Scott Conans restaurant. The tasting menu. Probably the best meal I have ever had. The waiter said our meal was $89.00 per person. When we got the bill he said he had made a mistake. The tasting menu was $ 105.00 but he gave it to us for $89.00. As I looked thru the material in our bill I saw 25% off between 6 and 7pm. We had our reservation made for 6:00 p.m. for a month. I saw this also offered on line when we were planning our trip. The bill was already settled. My husband said let it go. I was supposed to notify the waiter when we sat down. I got caught up in the atmosphere and forgot. Why wasn't the waiter more knowledgeable at the beginning or more honest? That bill should have been $73.75 per person That's $30.50 difference for 2 people. We only stayed one night and had breakfast buffet at Vitar. It was disappointing to say the least. The eggs benedict were very hard. Not poached. The waitress said she would have the kitchen make some fresh. I thanked but declined. The bread pudding was inedible. The pancakes were cold. The orange juice , if advertised as freshly sequeezed, was not because we saw kitchen help carrying gallons of juice across the dining room. The best thing on the breakfast buffet was the croissants and pastry. Not worth the $30 tab per person. My husband agreed. I expected classy and tasty. Did not deliver.
