Hotel in South BeachPosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Location, Location, Location
Cons: Update to some modern conveniences
Location: The hotel is within walking distance to the beach, numerous restaurants, clubs, and shops in the South Beach area
For a hotel that seems content with a historical feel, it provides you exactly what you need in the South Beach area, which is a bed to sleep in. Do not expect modern day comforts, except air conditioning. No HDTV, no WIFI, no USB ports for charging electronics. The only problem I had with room cleanliness was an empty bottle laying under a table that did not get thrown away. But if you are in South Beach to spend your entire time in a hotel, then you are there for the wrong reasons. I would have no problem staying here next time I visit, simply because the hotel provides an inexpensive place for me to catch some zzz's before my next outing.

Great location...stay somewhere else.Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: Staff and pool area.
Cons: Do not offer this hotel as you are damaging the Expedia name. Other than that, post an advisory that people book this hotel at their own risk.
Location: All of South Beach and a block off of the beach.
When I read previous comments, I thought "I am only staying a few days, how bad could it be?" Bottom line, spend more and stay away from these rooms. The entire hotel needs renovation or torn down. While it is "Art Deco", it is ORIGINAL ART DECO! I didn't want to leave anything on the floor for fear of bugs and dirt. While the staff was very good and the pool was pretty nice, it does not compensate for the facility that resembled a run down tenement in a poor neighborhood rather than a South Beach hotel. I really cannot believe I stayed there and will not admit to anyone that I did. I did believe that Expedia monitors these things but I was terribly mistaken about that. Price is one thing but it should come with an advisory that this is what you get for that price. I definitely would have spent more for better accommodations!

Economically priced at the time of purchasePosted Nov 14, 2013
Pros: Its location was great and we got it for a great value.
I would rate this hotel a solid ok due to it proximity of where we needed to be. I would recommend this place for it location and if its priced right. Don't expect luxury as I didn't. The bed sheets had some stains on it upon arrival but the service was more than willing to get us new bed sheets. For my uses it served well. Don't expect too much.

Good location, bad interior.Posted Nov 14, 2013
Pros: The location was great--a block from the beach and walking distance from most attractions. Don't rent a car; only about 6 spaces at hotel for $20/day.
Cons: The interiors could use a major update. It was a budget price--I guess you get what you pay for.
Location: It's one block from the beach in the heart of the Art Deco district. Lincoln Road Mall is only 2 blocks away and Espanola Way is a block away.
The hotel is reasonably priced and is in a great location. The outside is classic art deco architecture with a fountain in front, neon lights and a large pool in the back. The interior, however, is extremely dated. The lobby is OK for a budget hotel and there is a room with vending and ice machines. But our room was pretty bad. It looked as though nothing had been updated in 30+ years. The carpet was dirty and there was no headboard. There was a small "kitchenette" with fridge, a sink and 2 stovetop burners but there were no pots or pans so it was kind of useless. The art on the walls was hilarious. We had 2 of the exact same painting on either wall. A beach theme would make sense but it was a fall landscape that looked like the hills of Vermont. Also, there were no screens in the windows, so we had a mosquito problem if we wanted fresh air.

The hotel is close to everything. The staff is nice. But everything smells bad and is so dirty. The room is horrible and the bathroom even worse.
