Near beach but needs some work.

Cute cozy hotel. Very professional staff and the guy at the front desk was awesome. Bathrooms are great with an awesome jetted tub. The issue was that it rained and our ceiling was leaking in room 209. We told the staff but nothing was done. The carpet is falling apart in the bedroom but tiles are nice in the sitting area. The pull out sofa is gross and outdated in general. When we pulled it out to sleep on it that was impossible. Guy brought few extra comforters but we barely slept and were up with backpain. restaurant attached is way overpriced. Food was great but I've never gotten a smaller portion. It was 180 for 4 people to have 4 cokes and 4 meals for dinner. No alcohol appetizers desserts or anything. We left still wanting more food but didn't have the time for it. They did have delicious homemade pasta though.

This is a really nice Hotel with Great Staff. Good Location. If you have very heavy bags, be prepared to do some heavy lifting up the stairs.

Won't be back

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during our trip throughout South Florida. We typically stay at the W in South Beach; however, a colleague recommended the Impala for a great boutique hotel experience. Initially, I was very impressed with the decor and cleanliness. The hotel appeared small, quaint, and cozy. We enjoyed our stay until we encountered the extremely crude and unmannerly hotel receptionist in the morning of checkout. We approached the front desk to inquire about the breakfast options. We observed the receptionist playing video games on his cell phone with a completely lack of attention. After he discovered we wanted to ask a question, it appeared as if he was highly disturbed at the interruption of the latest "Angry Birds" game. We asked about the breakfast and he aggressively rebutted in a thick French accent, "Look, you go to the restaurant and sit down like any other place!" He then asked sarcastically, "What do you do in a restaurant?" We only inquired about the details of the breakfast because the hotel and restaurant are two separate businesses; one wouldn't naturally deduce that you enter a different business to eat breakfast. Perhaps if this had been explained to us, we wouldn't have needed to interrupt his video games. I told him I didn't appreciate his sarcasm and he evolved into belligerence. He told us he possessed two master degrees in hospitality and tourism. He also told us that he was best friends with the hotel owner, and he would disregard a neg

I only stayed over night but I found everyone to be friendly and it was a nice hotel. It was quite and not full of party goes and everything looked rather nice.

Charming, quiet hotel near beach, restaurants.

Pros: Great location and ambiance. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Cons: I can't think of anything that we would ask for differently. Some guests might have hard time with the stairs.
Location: 2 blocks from the beach. Restaurants and shopping in IMMEDIATE vicinity.
Loved our stay at the Impala on South Beach. This charming hotel is tucked away just two blocks from the beach, and easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The entrance is through a gate between two restaurants which opens up to a quiet garden and the hotel entrance. It's a classy place, but not pretentious, with the air of an Italian villa: lots of stone/marble/tile and hard woods. We had a standard queen room that was spacious with a sitting chair, writing desk, two closets, and mini-fridge. Very comfortable bed, linens, and quiet despite location. The bathroom was a bit more cramped generally (close the door if you care to sit on the toilet w/o banging your knees), but the large-open shower was certainly luxurious. Room had thermostat-controlled AC that kept us out-of-towners comfortable in the humidity. Other perks included a beach bag for use during our stay (with beach towels), complementary bottled water on check-in, and pretty awesome cushy robes perfect after a day in the waves. The staff was phenomenal: friendly, courteous, and very helpful in providing tips and directions for our stay. They also practice the older-style of holding your key at the desk when you go out, if you'd like one less thing to remember every day. It's a little thing, but made our stay just that much more enjoyable. Only downside of note: no apparent elevator to get to 2nd floor rooms. We're young and fit, so didn't mind hauling luggage upstairs, but could be concern for others.

Centrally located, comfortable modest hotel

Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: We liked its central location, the spacious accommodation and the pleasant staff.
Cons: Breakfast was the weakest element. The prospect of a simple continental breakfast seemed fine, but the microwaved pastries proved unappetising.
Location: The hotel is well-placed for restaurants on Ocean Drive and the Lincoln Road Mall, as well as some nice shops on Collins Street.
We were delighted to be given an upgrade to a suite, which had a large sitting room that, although not stylishly decorated, was ver comfortable. There was excellent storage space, and the lighting was good. Reception staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Arriving in the evening after two long flights, it was very convenient to be able to have a good dinner in the restaurant that shares premises with this hotel. We were not in Miami to have a glamorous or high-powered holiday but rather a relaxing week and this small hotel fitted our needs very well.
