Pleasant hotel in a lively area

Posted Jul 3, 2015
Set in a buzzing area on the happening Ocean Drive, the taxi from the Greyhound bus station cost me a whopping USD35 plus USD2 tip. I reached the hotel at 12.30pm and was told by the receptionist that the check-in time was 3pm and that the room was not ready. He took my number and said that he would call as soon as the room was ready and that I could leave the luggage at the reception. Speaking of which, given that these are old heritage buildings and small hotels, space is at a premium. So the reception, bar and restaurant are in the same area. So I left my luggage and went and sat at the beach - not a great option when you are tired and it is hot and sunny outside. I returned at 3pm and the receptionist gave me the news that the room was ready. It was medium sized with a fair sized bathroom. The view from the window was of the opposite window. One speciality of this hotel is that every room is decorated differently with a specific theme. So mine - 310 - was named Viva Las Vegas. Thankfully the hotel had an elevator and there was no noise from the outside where music was blaring till late. Overall the vibe was positive and the stay comfortable. However, the bathroom could have been more ergonomic like there was nowhere to keep the body wash while taking s shower. I had to put it on the floor. Then the washbasin was getting clogged and I had to remove the drain cover to let the water

Great location. Staff was awesome!!

Posted Jun 14, 2015
Cons: It is loud nightly.....request room towards rear of hotel if this bothers you.
Location: Location was great. Plenty of shopping and eating options within walking distance.
Had a great stay at Pelican. It is a very fun atmosphere and appreciated all the perks to hotel provided (free drinks at happy hour, free lounge chairs at beach, free breakfast.... bottled water in room). Staff was very courteous and helpful. Location was awesome, plenty of shopping and restaurants easily within walking distance. Will def be returning.

Awesome South Beach Experience

Posted Jun 11, 2015
Pros: Service, friendly staff, location, location, location!!!
Cons: WiFi
Location: Directly across the street from the beach (free lounge chairs), restaurant/cafe in the lobby, in the middle of all the nightlife.
Great hotel, amazing location, many amnesties: free breakfast and Two (2) Free drinks per person everyday at happy hour. And the drinks are strong! Usually free drinks are weak...not here. Room was funky and comfortable, super clean, awesome huge shower head, Safari themed room (I think all rooms are somewhat different) hard wood floors. Proximity to the beach and in the middle of it ALL. Staff was super friendly, accommodating, and nice! Hoping to return soon.

Nice place to stay for vacation at miami beach

I enjoyed staying 4 nights at pelican. It is at the center of everything I want :beach and night clubs. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have delicious foods and free breakfast. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I like the room lights and the pictures. I am sure if I go to biami beach again I will stay in this hotel.

HOTEL ACCUEILLANT

Posted Jun 1, 2015

Interesting hotel on South Beach

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: Free beach loungers, and free cocktails 4 - 6 pm. Valet parking. Helpful staff.
Cons: The included breakfast was an ordered single dish, juice, fruit, and toast cost extra. Wifi was very poor in the bedroom and the TV was erratic.
Location: Within walking distance of many bars and restaurants
I had a generally pleasant stay here, and found The Pelican to be a good base for exploring the Art Deco district, and just a short taxi ride from Lincoln Street Mall.

Interesting hotel situated close to the beach

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Mostly everything including the room, location, and staff. As I noted the breakfast was excellent as were the evening drinks.
Cons: The room could have used a reading light by the bed.
Location: It is directly on a very busy section of Ocean Drive. There were a large number of bars, resturants, and clubs. Shops were available one street over.
The hotel is quite unique, displaying a sort of industrial theme created by the designer Diesel. I enjoyed the unique room, however I would have enjoyed it more if there had been bed-side reading lamp. I discussed this with the desk clerk who said he would take it up with maintenance, however a lamp never appeared. The included breakfast was excellent as was the fact that it could be eaten wither in or outside. The two complementary drinks available between 4 and 6 were quite nice and could be chosen from a large menu. I liked the location of the hotel, however being directly on Ocean Drive it would not have worked well for those wanting quiet.
