Nice pool and location for the budget traveler

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: Pool and location
Cons: Needs renovating
A potentially charming Art Deco hotel in a great location with direct beach access. I love old hotels, and was not put off by original plumbing and tiles in the baths. That said, the building is in serious need of some renovation, starting with fresh paint, new carpet, and better lighting in the hallways. Most of the staff could use a refresher course in hotel management and guest relations. Tip: pack your own beach towel, as they run out on the weekends.

Bad experience

Hotel staff is extremely rude. It's totally overpriced . My room was awfull. Had a bad smell in it. The only good thing about it is the location.

Recent stay April 2014

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Great hotel and location for the price! Location: conveniently close to Lincoln Rd which has great shopping, good food and people watching. Great ocean front location with a nice walking path. Walgreens on corner and cvs nearby. Hotel: front desk service was very helpful. We arrived early (our room wasn't ready yet) and they locked our luggage up so we could enjoy the beach. Clean, fridge in room. Pool area: very nice. Tropical looking. Drinks kind of expensive $32 for 2 sex on the beaches but that's par for the course in Miami. Take your own beach towels because they provide them but as soon as they are out people scarf them up quickly!!! I would stay there again for a long weekend.

Ok cheap hotel

Posted Apr 7, 2014
The hotel is located on Collins which is a great spot, has great beach access also a nice pool and hot tube with bar. The hotel itself inside is nice on the main floor but room floors you can definitely tell it hasn't been updated like the main areas. The room was ok nothing special, the tv-service sucked. The bathroom was ok but not great. The maid service really didn't clean the room but picked it up with a lite cleaning. Bathroom was mostly cleaned up though, thank god. Staff was nice but had issue with valet parking which was resolved after speaking with the manager. Don't park at the hotel $35 a day, go a few blocks down the street to the Miami beech public garage $16 a day. All in all I say it was a good stay but wish the hotel and Miami was a bit cheaper.

Decent hotel - older

Posted Apr 7, 2014
The hotel was decent - I've seen a lot worse in South beach. It was clean and comfortable. Could use modernizing but I guess the point is to be outside on the beach, right? Overall, nice stay. The staff was very nice.

Nice location but old hotel

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Should be refurbished.
Hotel is old . Bathroom old . Rooms are OK but noise permeates throughout from other rooms. Pool is OK and of course the location is great just by the beach.

Nice Relaxing Hotel....GREAT!!!

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: The room had a refrigerator, iron and internet access. Bed felt quite comfortable and did I mention the view (on my!) Had Gym, internet room,
Cons: Didnt like that everything seems to shut down at the hotel around 8pm. bar closed down, no food, and even closed the pool and beach access areas.
Location: Beach in backyard, Dining out the front door. Ocean Dr. just 4 blocks away. Walgreens 2 blks away, Liquor stores, gift shops, restaurants...everything
Experience was great from the time I arrived. They gave me room 3xx and since we was waiting to check in from 1 o'clock the gentleman upgraded us to the ocean front room on the 6th fl. beautiful view. The elevator felt like it was our personal elevator cause no one else seemed to be on it anytime we was on and it put us right at our room door. Anything I asked for was done with no screw faces from the staff. The pool area is also clean, calm and comfortable with plenty of palm trees to feel the nice breezes and not getting burned by the sun. I truly felt like I was on a Caribbean island somewhere. Breakfast and Lunch is served at the Hotel but no dinner. So for Dinner there is Catalina's/Maxine's right across the street and very reasonable so meals we not a issue IMO, from what I have seen on my trip, this hotel is mostly for couples wanting to relax and enjoy a nice time together. There was absolutely no kids there but on each side of the hotel kids were jumping and screaming in the pools. This may be good for some who just want to relax peacefully. There is also no entertainment here so you have to wonder off and see Souch beach or other area hotels. A nice walk or quick cab ride for about $7 will get you to S/B and there is Plenty of entertainment there. Also a 24hr Walgreens 2blocks away incase you need any meds or groceries

Richmond Oceanfront Hotel

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Very nice pool and jacuzzi and access to beach.
Cons: Bathroom facilities - very old, bathtub chipped, no shelf space. Really would be nice to have a 2 cup coffee maker in the room.
Location: Very good location, just blocks away from Lincoln Mall. Easy walking.
Paid extra for oceanfront room - view was wonderful!

Music Week in SoBe

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Location is great! Near Lincoln Road Mall, Espanol Way, liquor stores, restaurants!
Cons: Beds, communication to guests on codes for the gate
Location: Great little bakery down by Walgreen's that you can get picnic lunches and breakfasts for not much money.
We did not know we were going to be smack dab in the middle of the 4 venues for music week! Electronic music going on from 10 in the morning until 10 at night! Beds in the hotel are very uncomfortable , like sleeping on a rock. The gate coming into the hotel from the ocean was changed on us without any notification. They need to figure that out! We had to walk all the way out to the road and up a block to get into the hotel ....in our bathing suits! Embarrassing!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: lots
The room stinks to smoke, it supposed to be a smoke free hotel, the bed is old you can hear and feel the springs, the bathroom is so small you can't sit straight on the WC and the toilet paper jams the WC cover when you want to put it back in place, the little staff there totally ignores you.
