Casual Elegance

Posted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, clean, modern rooms and facilities, and terrific location.
Cons: Air conditioning noise a bit annoying at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly. But that's about the only thing I can think of.
Location: We come down to Miami to race sailboats, and the Sonesta is in a perfect location. You can also go run, bike, and enjoy other watersports.
Sonesta is a stylish, elegant yet casual hotel, located at the end of Bayshore Blvd in Coral Gables. Beautiful views of Biscayne Bay and easy access to major sailing facilities, including Biscayne Bay YC, Coconut Grove YC, Coral Reef Sailing Club, Shake a Leg, etc. Rooms are clean, well-appointed and stylish. The air conditioning system in my room was a bit noisy when it first started but I got used to it and it wasn't an issue. Staff is very professional and courteous, from the parking valets and doormen, to the receptionists, housekeeping staff, and restaurant staff. Restaurant on the 8th floor is a bit small, but has a lovely outdoor patio with additional seating and a great view, by the pool. Only had breakfast and found the selection and quality acceptable. For the money, Sonesta is a very good value and I would definitely stay there again.

Sonesta Coconut Grove

Posted Feb 6, 2015
We spent seven days. Proximity to town and the Bay is excellent. And it's proximity to Miami and the beaches is very good. The rooms can use updating. There was rust on the outside of the refrigerator. Our top sheet on the bed had a whole in it. The balcony chairs awful. The beds - well they're not like the ones at the Ritz Carlton (around the corner). The hotel is under construction. The noise at times is unbearable - but at least it is contained with in the hours of 9 am to 5 pm. . You should check with the desk about construction before you make reservations. If you decide to head to the Ritz Carlton instead - check there about the construction noise as well. We moved from the Ritz to the Sonesta cause of the noise at the Ritz. Obviously, it didn't work. The kitchen area was functional and for the most part clean. The staff is friendly enough.

Pros: Bed and restaurant
Cons: valet parking
Location: nice area
We loved the food at the restaurant. Great bed. Only problem is the valet parking--staff seems untrained for the job.

Nice hotel with helpful staff.

Pros: The room, view, and pool.
Cons: There was a lot of construction going on; presumably the roof repairs will be done soono.
Location: Miami. Enough said.
The guests were friendly; the facilities were clean and well-maintained. I would stay there again.

The Sonesta is In a great location in Coconut Grove with nice restaurants and shopping near by. It is well kept and in very good condition. The rooms are nice and clean with very comfortable beds and fine linens. The pools and hot are well cared for and have a great view of Biscaine Bay.

Construction !

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff at every level
Cons: Disabled access room had full sized kitchen but too small bathroom with no room to reach toilet from wheelchair, sink not accessible.
Location: Great location, great view, great pool. Coconut Grove, Biscayne Bay beaches not far, Downtown Miami, Riverwalk fish restaurents. Parks, Dadeland
Expedia did NOT inform that Sonesta has ongoing construction work. Extrememely & distressingly noisy drills & hammering which reverberates inside the walls. Outside work which is noisier inside ! Very patient staff dealing with multitudes of complaining guests. They did try to accommodate us, gave us earplugs & changed our room. However Sonesta rooms & hallways have ambience of an old propery & do not rate as a four star hotel. Bathrooms are very old fashioned, huge beds too big for rooms. Hotel staff are FIVE star & deserve to work in a property with greater earning potential ! Expedia find NOT inform that disabled access rooms are infact 'efficiencies' equipped with full kitchens ! Full sized range, dishwasher & noisy old refrigerater ! NOT a room for a hour star hotel Not Vegas standard at all !!

Great location but a bit loud

Posted Jan 13, 2015
The staff was really great. They were very nice and accommodating. Very helpful. The hotel is very well located, right next to shops and restaurants an also across the sailing club. Very safe. The only thing is that those streets get busy at night and there was a Puerto Rican party so we heard loud music until late at night. Not sure how often that happens. Still, we were very happy with the hotel. Breakfast was very good though no buffet. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk after we checked out with no problem. Same for our car.
