good hotel but not fancy

Posted Dec 23, 2014
Overall we had a good experience. The only negative points are: -breakfast: very cheap -rooms: the carpets are smelly. I understand that this is an old hotel and it is trying to keep the spirit of art deco alive but the smell of the carpet is terrible. We had to buy a scented candle to kill the unpleasant odor.

Old Hotel close to beach

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: Close to the beach
Cons: It needs to be updated. It is an old hotel that needs quite a bit of work done. The pool area is nice but the cushions are all stained and dirty.
Location: Close to Miami beach and shops
We were very disappointed with this Hotel. The rooms were very small for 4 people and we had some plumbing issues. The staff were not particular helpful or friendly and many did not speak English.

Nice breakfast, pool and proximity to the beach facilities are impressive. Parking is valet, do understand cause of location. Had good experience, would chose again if given a chance.

Hôtel correct dans un très bel environnement

Posted Nov 26, 2014

Great location

Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: Great location to Lincoln road, and Ocean drive. Access to boardwalk. Bed was big.
Cons: Walls paper thin, ( age of building ) single glassed windows not good. Mosquitoes in pool area not good.
Location: Lincoln road, Ocean Drive, boardwalk to both, easy access to S bus to Bayside and Aventura Shopping Mall.
Great location,, getting a bit tired in places. but clean. Room good, breakfast adequate. Would use again for location. If the price is right it's good place.

My experience at the hotel was averAge. The hotel is located close to the beach but the amenities are limited. The hotel pictures for the most but are accurate but the hotel manager needs to take care of the deferred maintenance of the building asap. The hotel is old and needs some modernization. Overall my experience was good. The hotel is in close proximity to restaurants, shops, and public transportation.

Nice Hotel in South Beach

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Location is pretty good and the access along the path made it easy to get out for a morning run. The pool and beach areas are nice.
Cons: Not really a business traveler hotel. No razors, etc available at desk (safety issue?), no place in the lobby to sit and work without piped music.
Location: North end of South Beach in historic hotel district. Can visit other hotels, Lincoln Avenue (interesting), Ocean Drive (tourist locale).
The hotel was nice and basic, worth the cost paid. It has the old Miami style grounds as you travel in off Collins Avenue - hotel, pool, palm trees with hammocks, path, beach, ocean. Breakfast was good and varied from day to day, and included fresh fruit and also local oranges which were very good. The beach has a supply shack and beach chairs available for use. Ocean water was clear and warm during my visit. South Beach itself is interesting and also very expensive in the tourist areas, as if they had to fly in supplies. A variety of international travelers from all over make the area more interesting. Getting off the beaten path a bit yielded some good finds for Cuban food. The hotel, like most of the hotels in South Beach, pipes music into the lobby, pool area and outside areas. Not too many places to find a quiet moment to sit and read, but this is not the preference of many who come to South Beach for the nightlife.
